I was born Catholic. I’m now considering changing religions and becoming Muslim like my husband (my choice)

Wow. I learned something today. I knew Christians could be classified as Catholic or Protestant.  I did not realise that some Christians identify with neither!

Atheist household here. Although atheism wouldn’t be considered a “religion” at all. Same with agnostic. There is no organized place of meeting for us… and outside of some Dawkins books (and the whole field of science, really) we don’t have a “Bible” or cornerstone book to tell us what to (not) believe. Therefore, I don’t consider them “religions,” but I understand why they were included in the poll.

Fiance and I both stopped believing at really young ages. I didn’t have much of a church upbringing as my parents were “lazy Christians” (believe in God, but never go to church). They thought that they would let their children pick what they could identify with when we were old enough to read the literature and make informed decisions for ourselves. I love them for that. Pretty early on in my life I would question my christian friends (and got a lot of flack for it). I just couldn’t understand it. I also really, really dislike the christian religions now and they’ve kind of put a bad taste in my mouth for all organized religions. Most christians are not very christ-like :/ The pièce de résistance for me was when I tried praying (once) after my uncle was in a horrific car accident and my prayers weren’t answered. I felt silly praying, but thought I would give it a shot. When it didn’t work (I was 10) I said “eh, this stuff is fake.”

Fiance was brought up in a hardcore southern baptist church….so there’s not even a point into going into his back story…but he is now atheist as well. When people ask us what we are, IRL, we usually say “agnostic” because the word “atheist” seems to have a pretty nasty connotation to it in our area.

I voted “nothing in particular/not sure”. I personally believe in a higher power, but I know that I could be wrong. If I had to self-describe myself, I’d call myself a deist with agnostic tendencies.

I’m Atheist. Although I was baptized and sent to Catholic elementary school. My mom is RC and my dad was raised in the Congregational Church (he’s from New England), but we are not a religious family at all. In fact, my dad is Atheist now.

FH was raised Serbian Orthodox although he doesn’t identify with Christianity very much anymore. He just dislikes religion in general. However there are so many traditions in Serbian culture that revolve around the church so he doesn’t want to dismiss it entirely… it’s a bit hard to explain.

I am a gnostic (NOT agnostic). We believe all religions are but different paths to the same place. I favor the Pagan religion however.

My Mum was raised Anglican (so, Protestant) but my sister and I were raised Agnostic with an Anglican touch.
