Anyone with twins, please calm me. What did you do financially? How did you handle the news? Any tips or tricks to prepare me for this journey? Anything you recommend me getting?i just found out this morning I have identical twins. Any suggestions to tell them apart? I’m having girls.

Lucky!!! I’d love twins. Congratulations!
How many weeks along are you? Do you have kids already?
Also how old are you? Apparently the chances of having twins increases with age.
Did you have an idea earlier in your pregnancy that you were carrying twins?

mama2bee71 : the only trick I can tell you from my friends who have twins is to paint a toenail on one of them to tell them apart!

No twins here (but major fears of twins. Still hoping my 7 week ultrasound was correct in just finding one). But I know two sets of identical twin girls that (as adults) I have no trouble telling apart based on little things, and they both have very similar taste and hair etc. So I’m sure you will figure your own girls out without too much difficulty. A designated colour (hair band or something) could help when they are very small. My parents used nail polish on their puppies 😉
That is big news, and a lot to process! Good luck! You got this!

missviolet92 : I’m 34. I have a daughter that is 15 months. I’m 6 weeks 6 days. I had no idea since I went through fertility treatment and only one embryo went in.
LilliV : what a great idea. I joked with Darling Husband about tattooing a star on one (jokingly of course)
mrsnnn3 : thanks! I like the nail polish idea. Also the color band.

- Wedding: April 2021 - City, State
I was friends with a person who had an identical twin in college, don’t feel obligated for them to be all matchy-matchy, infact, a lot of people I know who were twins ended up hating that that and as soon as they were old enough dressed differently. Some like it, some don’t.

No advice but congrats!!!

No kids, much less twins but wanted to say congrats! And my friend who had new born identical girls would dress one baby in warm tones (red, pink, yellows) and the other in cool tones (blue, green, purple) until they were about 6 months old and her and her husband could confidently tell them apart. She was gonna do the toe nail polish but if the baby is swaddled or in a footsie onsie that isn’t very helpful.

I’m an identical twin! My mom said she knew how to tell us apart, but other family members struggled. They kept my sister mainly in yellow and blue and me in pink. I don’t have any advice as I wasn’t the parent, but we got by financially even with my mom eventually raising us on her own. Congrats, you’re literally giving your baby each their best friend. My twin is my soulmate, it’s been the coolest experience.
