I am being totally selfish here and wearing two different looks. I have a fit and flare for the reception and a full over skirt to wear for the ceremony. I bought the fit and flare but couldn’t shake the wanting of a ball gown/princess look and so I got a skirt to wear over it for the best of both worlds!
Now I’m in a dilemma where I love both looks and want portraits in both. Fiance and I decided not to do a first look but now I’m wondering if we should, so I can take photos in both looks (first look with fit and flare and photos after ceremony with full skirt). I’m hesistant to even mention it because I KNOW it sounds so ridiculously selfish. I’m trying to convince myself that even if we do the first look he’ll still get the effect of not having a first look because I’ll wear the overskirt and it looks like a different dress.
I also have to note that my mom bought my actual dress and I’m buying the overskirt. If I don’t take portraits in the actual dress she’ll be upset (and I will too) so that is not an option.
Also, I am taking the skirt off for the ceremony and wearing my fit and flare bustled for the reception.
Thank you everyone!!!!!!

Could you just take a few pictures after the ceremony in the skirt, then remove it for the rest of the photos? Is your Fiance fine with a first look? If he is that’s probably the easier way to go but if he is not on board try the above.

I don’t have any advice, just wanted to say that both looks are beautiful! It looks like two different dresses instead of ‘dress with attached overskirt’. Nicely done!!!

I just wanted to say that I love it so much more with the overskirt, I would personally wear it the whole time!
As for the first look I think this is something you can only decide with your Fiance, mine was strongly against one so after we discussed it I knew it was off the table for us. Coming down the aisle and seeing eachother for the first time is something I don’t think you could come close to with a first look.

Definitely do a first look if your Fiance if cool with it because you look stunning with the overskirt! Just fit and flare looks amazing on you too but the overskirt is even more flattering! And if frst look isn’t an option, take pics in both styles after the ceremony. I don’t think putting an overskirt is too hard. If you were changing into a totally different dress that’d probably not be an option but this way you can still get both looks.

cheesefries : What designer and style is the one you’re wearing? I am looking for an overskirt too (under $500 if I can) and really love yours! I think it’s perfect with the top of your dress ❤

I don’t see why you can’t do pictures in both without a first-look. Just take some pictures with the skirt, then remove it and take more.

If you want to take pictures in both dresses just make sure you allow enough time for the first look to remove the skirt and put it back on.
