My Darling Husband and I went on our delayed honeymoon to Antigua last week & it was amazing! We stayed at Cocobay Resort, a small all inclusive on the southwest side of the island. everything about the resort was great, staff, food, activities…we were so pleased! Antigua is beautiful…bluest water I’ve ever seen.
Here was the view from the reception area, it was a littler cloudy that day so the water wasn’t quite as vibrant.
And the view from our cottage with our own plunge pool (although the pool was freezing so we didn’t use it much)
the weather was perfect & we had a great time. As sad as I was to leave, I was definitely ready to go home!
While we were gone, it snowed in Portland (very rare!) and apparently, the whole city shut down…but we were still able to go pick up our puppy the day after we got back….
She is such a sweetheart! Potty training in the snow was difficult but thankfully it melted quickly & things are going much more smoothly now. We’re crate training (as we did with our other pup) and that is helping to keep the sanity in the house
Shes majorly teething right now…holy moly, those little teeth hurt! Training is such a process!!
Our other pup is learning how to “play gently” but the little one is quite an instigator herself so it’s been challenging to find the fine line of letting them play vs beat each other up but we’re finding a happy medium 🙂 the little one hasn’t learned to sit (aka stay still for more then a nano second) yet, so this was the best I could do on getting a picture of them together!
Having a puppy again is making me want to put off having a baby, I almost forgot how much work they are!!!

@AOriver: Ah! That’s awesome! We are off to CocoBay, also in one of the Premium Waterfront suites in just over a week! So glad to hear you like it! Any tips or suggestions?!

@Soon2bmarried123: we did an ocean view, which was just behind the “water front” cottages! It was fantastic. We didn’t leave the resort at all lol
the restaurant is fantastic! They have a different menu every day for lunch and dinner (breakfast is standard…an egg/omelette “bar”, pancakes, sausage, bacon etc) breakfast & lunch are buffet style But dinner was sit down service. You have to make reservations for dinner at the front desk every day. They have 6:30, 7, 8, 8:30 & 9. There are only a few slots for each time (probably 10?) so make your reservations as soon as you wake up. We ended up eating at 6:30 most nights but one night got stuck with a later reservation because we forgot to make reservations!
There always seemed to be pool chairs at the upper pool available. And the beach is fantastic. there were only a couple vendors trying to sell stuff & we told them we weren’t interested and they totally left us alone, not pushy at all!
Most of the guests were older and seemed to be from England. There were only a couple Americans & almost no young people. It might have been the time of year, but we didn’t mind…we loved the old ladies, they were sweet 🙂
we were scheduled to go on a catamaran trip but my husband broke out with a sun rash so we didn’t end up going. Supposedly, it’s a really fun excursion, very popular.
Make yourreservation for your taxi the day before you are due to leave. The front desk will do that for you.
Seriously, the best service I have ever experienced at a resort, all inclusive or not. We were very very impressed….the only thing I would change is the fact that they don’t have free wifi and the plunge pools are not heated. That would have been nice! But I think it’s fairly hot for the other months of the year so it makes sense…we just went in a “cooler” month (it was still high 70s/low 80s all week!)
let me know if you have any other questions and have a fabulous trip!!!!!

@AOriver: Congrats! The views are breath taking 🙂
Your little girl is so sweet and must have been SO happy to see you!
So glad that you had a great time and that vendors weren’t pushy ( I was curious about that!). Looks like the perfect get a way 🙂

We also honeymooned at Cocobay! It was our first all-inclusive resort and we loooooved it!!! I don’t think I’ve ever felt so relaxed or drank so many piña coladas. Your pictures bring back great memories – we are still daydreaming about going back sometime. Congratulations on your wedding and adorable new family member!

@AOriver: I’m in Portland too! The snow was awful, I’m jealous you missed it. I’m obsessed with your puppy and want a play date. I have a Boston/Eng. Bulldog mix and would love to have a Boston. Where did you get your pup?

I wish I had your life! I trip and a puppy are 2 things I want desperatly right now!
I mean I already have 3 dogs (1 is a foster and about to be adopted) and I don`t have time until the summer but I would definitely settle for a vacation until then! haha

@atreyu547: hahahah that’s perfect!!
that’s what I keep telling myself…it will be worth it after she gets out of the puppy stage lol. I would have adopted an older pup but we wanted another Boston and they’re very difficult to find as healthy rescues!

@misskoala: we are sad we missed the snow!!! Hahaha we’ve only been living here for 2 years and my husband loves the snow so he was bummed…but yea, I’m not sad we missed the city being shut down and everyone not knowing how to drive in it!!!!
The breeder is up in battle ground. She has 7 adults and has about 2 litters a year I believe. are you looking for a pup?

Kelly_mac: Soon2bmarried123: GreenGarnet: We are going to CocoBay in June. I CAN NOT WAIT!!
Thank you Kelly_mac: for posting those tips. I’m always on the hunt for tips on CocoBay so that we can make the most of the experience. The tip about making reservations is HUGE! Thank you, thank you, thank you. We got a waterfront suite with a plunge pool. I’ve heard before that the plunge pools are cold. I am hoping that they will be a bit warmer when we go. Did you go to Shirley Heights?

haker4: we didn’t even leave the resort!!! we just lounged on the beach & by the pool the whole time. We planned one excursion but my Darling Husband broke out in a sun rash/burn so we had to cancel. We fully intended on just relaxing the whole time, we had a pretty busy year in 2013, so it worked out great for us! I think the pools will be warmer in June since the weather will probably be warmer!
Cocobay is amazing. The staff is incredible and will help you with whatever you need!
