- Wedding: August 2011
I am insane. Spreading my joy (yah, joy is the word) over two separate events. What bride, let alone person, would do that to themselves, planning 2 events. Believe it or not, I had my reasons and they were based in my issues. My issues are that I lack a large budget and I realized i wanted a personal wedding for me and my intended. How it became two separate events is a lttle tale of clever and stuck behind that hard place.
The private litte affair of a wedding was in part something I always wanted–a destination wedding. Having a wonderful honeymoon/vacation and get married all at once. Not much muss (i think) and i don’t get gipped out of honeymoon. I always dreamt of a sizable amount of time with my new husband to just bask in the afterglow. Since i am not the most romantic girl in the world, but I do allow myself this one thought.
Budget was another, much bigger concern, or i should say, too small of one. I can swing a few thousand for a wedding but I won’t be able to swng a wedding, reception and honeymoon. Since necessity is the mother of invention, I thought about how to swing a smaller party with family and friends and still have my honeymoon dream. Luckily, most of our friends are in the same hobby and we will have a larger event where most of those people will happen to be. Also, it’s not that far from Los Angeles where the rest of family and friends are located. It just made sense to combine things. I would have to figure out the ceremony of some kind during this event. Since no one is making a special trip except for a small handful of family, this fixes any logistical issues, considering I now live In San Diego and all of these people are from all over.
Now how to figure out the ceremony…
