Short version: Does anyone here have pictures they could please post of a diamond halo ring with a white gold setting and yellow gold band (ie a two tone gold ring)? OR could you please give your opinion on whether a ring like this would look nice? Any input appreciated 🙂
Long version: My partner and I have finally started looking at e-rings, which I’m incredibly excited about, and after many trips to multiple jewlers I’ve decided I love halo rings 😀
I’m thinking a .75-.80 centre diamond, with a delicate halo of diamonds around it. No side stones.
Thing is, all the rings I have tried on in the stores have been white gold, but I wear yellow gold, and want my ring to be in yellow gold too. I’ve looked at some yellow gold halo rings online and they’re very pretty, but they just don’t have the same gorgeous sparkle as the white gold ones. White gold seems to give the illusion of one giant stone (well, I think so anyway 😛 ), whereas yellow sort of breaks up the sparkliness.
This is the sort of style I’m thinking of:
SO! What I’m thinking is I’ll have the ring custom made with a yellow gold band and a white gold setting, so I get my yellow gold fix, but the diamonds still sparkle against the white gold. Also, for my wedding ring I’d be getting a yellow gold band with many small diamonds across about half of it. The wedder would sit under the setting of my engagement ring.
But I have no idea if this will look any good? The white setting against the yellow band on the e-ring, and the white setting sitting over the yellow wedder?? I’ve searched online for two tone gold halo rings but can’t find anything like what I’m thinking of.
If you have any pictures of rings like what I’ve described, or have an opinion on whether this will look ok, please please post! We’re going back to see the jeweler this Thursday morning and I would love to have a more firm idea of what I’d like.

I don’t have any pics but I’m with you. I LOVE yellow gold but wanted my halo surround to be white gold. I finally gave up because I didn’t want to go custom. I ended up with an all white gold ring. It is gorgeous but I know I won’t be happy having to have it dipped once a year. I never had to do that with my yellow gold. And I loved the contrast of the two golds too. I’m probably going to end up sometimes wearing/stacking yellow gold and rose gold bands beside my white gold halo.
I hope other bees are able to find some pics for you. If it is your dream ring and you don’t mind going custom or can find a two tone I say go for it. It will be gorgeous. Be sure to post pics.

@foxydiamond: I love 2 tone rings!

@foxydiamond: I am in the same boat. My hubby and I had a civil wedding in Sydney and I chose a beautiful yellow gold wedding band with .30 carat channel set diamonds. We didn’t have much money then and my hubby proposed without a ring but promised that when we make more ill have both a dream wedding and ering. Now it’s all happening 3yrs later.
The ring I fell in love with was a white gold halo set ring with side diamonds which looks like the ring above. I initially wanted a plain gold band to match my current wedding band however for the particular design I felt that two tone doesn’t look as nice. Now, my hubby wants to get me a whole new white gold set and I think this may be the way to go with halo designs. This is coming from somebody who normally has a strong preference for yellow gold.

@foxydiamond: If what ever jewelry company you go with can not find a two toned ring for you just ask them to rhodium the head of the ring. Meaning the halo and center stone part. The rhodium will change the yellow gold color to white gold. But honestly this is a very common style and should not be hard to find. If you need help finding anything let me know. I can help.

@JustLove25: Where did you see that ring? Is there somewhere I can view it online? I literally love it, but not sure how two tone rings look from underneath. I’d like to see it from side on 🙂 thanks

@foxydiamond: I’m sorry it’s been a while and I don’t remember where I found that.. I’m sorry 🙁 I just really liked the picture.

I think mixed metals will look amazing. It’s a really traditional look and lots of antique rings were made that way. It looks so classic. Here are some I found googling antique target rings (I have a halo based that was custom-made from an original Edwardian design and they were called target rings then…at least in the UK).

I ended up going solitaire but I love LOVE two tone halos. Have you contacted James Allen about possibly doing this? Their halos look like it could easily have this done, just putting a WG halo head on a YG band.

Moissaniteco.com has a cushion cut Tiffany Legacy reproduction in 2 tone gold as well.

I am looking for the same thing! I want to reset my oval solitaire. I too am having a hard time finding one. YG plain shank with the halo set in white gold. Good luck!

I don’t have a pic, but before getting me diamond reset last weekend, I wore a mixed metal set and really loved the look. I had a white gold diamond band and a yellow gold e ring with diamonds on the band. I think the mixed metal look is lovely
