Not sure why this was marked as Spam. So I’ll try again.
So this is kind of a mini-vent!
DH and I get picked up by a lyft driver from the airport last night, and almost immediately the driver starts complaining about how slow it is everywhere except the airport. DH and I respond, and then the driver goes on to ask us how much our trip is costing since prices are likely surging. We tell him its $30, and he was like “Wow, thats expensive. Especially after my tip”. DH and I were a little surprised by his bluntness! I understand that tipping is the normal thing if you are satisfied with your ride and I usually do, but I have never heard a driver from Lyft or Uber strtaight out say something like that. He continues to tell us about his irritation with having to drive back to the airport since that is the only thing keeping him busy. We just nod and agree with everything he says.
So we continue with the ride, and I notice that the driver keeps missing the turn and such that the navigation is telling him to take. By doing this, he added an additional 15 minutes to our trip. It’s pretty late and I’m exhasuted and just want to get home, and I’m getting more irritated with his lack of following the navigation. I then ask why he is taking all the streets rather than the freeway, and he says because there is an accident on the freeway and this way is faster. I decide to google map the address from the airport to our house, and it tells me to take the freeway, which is completely CLEAR!! I show DH and he is surprised, but we both don’t say anything.
We finally get home, and as we are unloading our suitcases, he tells us “I would like to thank you in advance for your 5-star review, and tip”. I seriously couldn’t believe he would think that after everything we had to endure, I would even consider leaving him a tip!!
Ugh, I still can’t believe this guy!
I’m debating whether or not I should report it to lyft, especially since he was not following the navigation?

Definitely report it. I’ve had pushy drivers before and reported. They definitely need to know if the driver is purposely extending the trip. Lyft had been great responding to me in the past and reviewing trips to adjust prices afterwards.
This behavior is outside of their terms for drivers so they need to be made aware to remedy the situation. This behavior from many cab drivers is the whole reason Lyft and Uber were created.

Was he following any navigation at all? I know I’ve had some drivers use Waze instead of the route within the Lyft app. Was your trip more expensive as a result?
Honestly, I’d probably just give him a bad review and let it go. ETA: I don’t think you’d be wrong to report, I probably just wouldn’t take the time.

He missed the two initial turns, which the app would reroute. But there were several times when he could make a turn when the app would tell him to go straight, which extended the time.

Recently I had a driver pick me up from the airport and after I got out of the car, he send me a text saying he deserved a tip because he had to circle once at the airport while he was in a no standing zone… The nerve!! A driver should not be able to see your cell phone number after the drive is complete.

I would just give a bad review and mention in the review why, and report it if you want. That’s unprofessional behavior, but not indicative of most of the drivers.

I would probably write an email to Lyft to inform them. It may save someone else the trouble you went through!

wow how did he get your number?! I thought they couldn’t see your number and could only call/text thru the app and couldn’t actually see it. Definitely notify them of this!

That’s what I thought… I reported it!

I think you accidentally got into a cab instead of a Lyft.
