@apex:  You will be FINE! It is statistically such a low low probability there is more damage in worrying about it than anything else.
Enjoy your cake and B’day!

I’m sure it will be fine!  I doubt that small of an amount will make a difference…plus, most eggs are pausteurized these days.  Don’t sweat it.

If you were sick enough for it to affect your pregnancy you would know it.

You’ll be fine. It’s hard to remember all of the things you’re not supposed to do when you’re early on in your pregnancy. So many things you wouldn’t think twice about before are now suddenly off limits!

I know you’re not supposed to clean kitty litter boxes when pregnant but I scooped my cats’ litter, out of habit, the day I found out I was expecting. Since then, Darling Husband has been dutifully taking care of it for me but I was like “d’oh!” when I realized I had done it without even thinking.

You’ll be totally fine! Don’t worry about it 🙂 I threw a rule out the window last night, we were at a party last night and there was prosciutto wrapped asparagus. I think I ate nearly the whole tray. I’ve missed prosciutto so much!!!!!!!!!!!! No regrets 😉

@babybuzz:  Amen, sista!  I threw out the prosciutto rule about 2 weeks ago when I had a sandwich with prosciutto on it and I haven’t looked back!   Cool

I’ve been hitting the coffee too every other morning and every once in a while I’ll have a glass of nice prosecco.  Makes me feel like a human being and not just a landlord to this baby.

@iheartnerds:  One of my favorite no nos when pregnant was that he had to do that crappy job for 9 months LOL

I think it would be different if you ate the whole raw egg whole, like some weight trainers do… so you’re okay and I don’t see the baby saying “tsk, tsk” waving it’s forefinger at you in your womb!

They are guidelines to REDUCE the risk of something happening. No rules saying “If you eat this, you will die and hurt you baby!”. Just guidelines. But considering the amount of raw cake batter and cookie dough I have eatten in my life without ever getting salmonella (which is why they tell you not to eat it) I think one finger lick will be fine. I wouldn’t make habit of just chowing on the raw dough (unless it is that epic stuff from pinterest with no eggs!) but you will be fine.

Everyone slips up occasionally and every book that I’ve read says don’t beat yourself up about it.  Smile  There are so many recommendations of things you shouldn’t do (and it changes based on the book/doctor/etc.) that it’s hard to keep up sometimes!
