Depends on the rest of the outfit. Do you have a pic of the suit they are wearing?

I voted bow tie.  I feel like a necktie is worn all the time, bow tie is more formal.  I’m trying to talk my Fiance into doing bow ties, but he really wants to do a necktie 🙁

I don’t like bowties. They’ve become a little too hipster/trendy for me, especially when the occasion is not black tie.

@lina010:  always necktie. i think the only times bowties work is when the wedding is either super formal (black tuxes, black tie) or one of the hipster-chic/country-themed/rustic weddings that are so popular right now. and then, no jacket, just suspenders with the bow tie.

Overall I’m a bigger fan of neck ties so that gets my vote!

We went with neck ties. Fiance was against bow ties from the start. He just does not like the style unless we were doing black tie, which we are not.

I vote bow ties, because I love them and thats what we went with! We went with a classic slim fit tux with a black bow tie for H and dark purple bow ties for the groomsmen, they all looked great!

I would have your fiance decide.  We got to pick our dresses.  I like the look of both, but my fiance strongly preferred the necktie, so everyone is getting neckties.

@mgbser:  agreed. I figured if I got to choose my dress, Darling Husband got to choose his outfit. Even though I don’t like bowties, if that’s what he had wanted, that would have been ok with me.

We are doing the necktie. I would prefer the bow tie because it is a black tie event but the servers are wearing bow ties so we dont want them to match. I would let your Fiance decide.

@littlemisst08:  this but I would let the groom and the groomsmen pick.

I’m having this issue right now.

My Fiance is wearing a super formal black tux from Vera Wang, and I love the bowtie on him, and also love the black or dark grey necktie! It’s just so hard to decide.

I feel like bowties are super-classic, and the black necktie just doesn’t feel as special to me.
