Awkward.  Just explain Our furbaby is a bit of a demon puppy and he has chewed the bars heavily trying to escape the crate – they are quite squished and deformed. The crate is still usable, but it is not in the same condition that she gave it to me in.

If she still wants it, her choice.  If you still need it, explain that you accepted it with her claim that she wouldn’t need it anymore.

So she gave you the crate since her dog no longer fits it, and she doesn’t want more dogs.  She accepted your thank you gift for her kindness and said nothing.  Now she wants it BACK?

    Uh, no

So, she offered someone a crate that was no longer hers?  Rude.  And again, awkward.

I am not a fan of lying, but I would honestly tell her your dog destroyed it. lol

@MrsPanda99:  She seriously wants it back just to “regift” it to someone else (how many times does she plan to do that)? I do not understand that stupidity of some people. She shouldn’t have told her relatives that she would give it to them, it was no longer hers to give. Yet another reason I hate people. Haha.

Well that’s not cool, you shouldn’t give someone something and then expect them to give it back at a later date, unless they understood it was only a loaner.

I would just tell her the condition it’s in and see what she says.  You shouldn’t be expected to buy a replacement for something you assumed you could keep.

That’s really strange that she wants it back to give it to someone else, it isn’t hers to give anymore.  I would just tell her it is no longer usable after your dog chewed on it.

@MrsPanda99:  That is so weird of her to ask for it back to give to someone else months later.  Maybe she’s asking as in a longshot.  I would be honest and say you were under the impression she was giving it to you and unfortunately since she gave it to you, your dog chewed up the crate while she was crate training and you threw it away (unless she knows you still have it then offer it to her.)  She’s being rude asking for a gift back; you even gave her a thank you card and wine so she knew she was giving the crate to you.
