Anybody else caught up in this Verizon to Frontier switch (FL, CA and TX customers)? I thought we had it pretty good because we didn’t actually lose all of our services when they switched (many people did), just our On Demand and access to online accounts like HBOGo and Showtime Anytime. Now we just moved (within the same town) and we were supposed to get our services installed at the new address yesterday. I took the day off of work to wait and nobody showed up, no call either. I call this morning (after giving up last night after being on hold forever) and they tell me they’re going to show up today and if we can’t wait for them, not until the 16th. Now my husband is taking the day off of work. It’s noon and no word yet, hopefully they show up. If they don’t, it’ll be two wasted days off and still no internet or cable.
The internet is going crazy with unhappy new Frontier customers, anybody else care to rant about this?? Or cable companies in general?

SithLady: I haaaaaaate that! It also happened to us when we moved just across town with Comcast. No one showed up, nothing was done remotely, nada. Luckily at the time I didn’t work so I could be there whenever, but still annoying. Cable/phone companies are soooo hard to deal with it.

RedHeadKel: Yep, I’ve had Comcast in the past as well and they were terrible too.
A couple years back, Verizon charged me $580 for unreturned equipment that they acknowledged had been returned. They kept saying that the charge would be removed month after month, but every month, there it was. Eventually, they sent me to collections for it. Nobody could fix it, eventually I had to contact the office of the VP of Verizon to have it removed from collections (and my credit report).
It sucks because I actually do like the Verizon Fios product, it’s definitely better than our other cable option, but we got notice a couple days before it happened that Frontier was taking over everyone’s account, so now we’re stuck with them (luckily I was not in a contact, some people are really stuck with contracts). If they don’t show up today though, I’m going to have to check out my other options.

We had frontier when we were in NC and I hated it! Terrible service.

SithLady: I had a similar experience when I still had a landline! Somehow someone got added to my phone bill and they had signed up to receive air miles for long distance minutes. Well, I have a phobia of flying so it sure wasn’t me, it had the other person’s name right on the bill, but every month I’d get billed their calls and every month I’d call in and they said they’d take care of it. For months! I did the SAME thing, I called their corporate office and BAM. It got taken care of. Ridonkulous to go through all that. Grrrr.

So. I live in the middle of nowhere. Cell phone and Internet communication is kinda hit or miss ’round here. I completely misinterpreted “frontier communications” because out here on the frontier we often joke about needing to go back to carrier pigeons and smoke signals 😛

This didin’t happen to us (yet) but I’m in the same boat as a former Verizon customer who got switched and I’m still annoyed at them because I went online to pay my bill and their online system wasn’t working. It was in hte midst of their turnover so it wasn’t that surprising, but we had a bill due. So I called. Here’s how it went:
FRONTIER: So sorry the site’s not working; we expect it to be up in 2 weeks.
ME: Okay, but in 2 weeks, our bill will be overdue and we don’t want to be charged a late fee.
FRONTIER: You can pay it over the phone. Here’s the phone number.
ME: But on your website, it says you charge a fee to pay over the phone. We don’t want to pay that fee either.
FRONTIER: Well, I don’t know what to tell you, ma’am.
ME: …I think you’re supposed to tell me that the website not working is YOUR error and therefore you should take my damn payment, on time, without a late fee, without a ‘phone fee’ over the damn phone.
This back-and-forth went on for way too long. Finally, I agreed to pay the bill online, late, and then had to call them back and haggle over the late fee, during whcih time I got the whole, “Well, you’re a new customer so we’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and take it off this one time.”
WTF?? So not impressed thus far.

SithLady: OMG we are about to switch as well I hate Frontier so much! FIOS was so awesome and this thing that’s taken its place.. is just awful.
A few weeks ago we were thinking ok fine it’s in transition – but now… I don’t really know what to say. Our friends are on Direct TV and Time Warner but I’m not familiar with either. Maybe it’s time to shop for new cable?

windowlulu: Right?! I really thought they’d have things straightened out by now, it’s been over a month. I was reading comments on the Frontier facebook page and man oh man people are pissed.
I just need to watch the new episodes of Game of Thrones and Outlander dammit!

My husband has phone and internet through them. His internet was way too slow for my needs since I work from home. We got married last week so one of the first things I did after moving in was get cable internet. It has been a such a headache trying to get a hold of Frontier to cancel his old internet. He hadn’t realized he had been switched from verizon…so he had called them…been on hold…got switched to frontier….more being on hold… eventually he had to give up because he had to leave for work. I tried to do it online for him but there’s nowhere on their website to do it. So tonight he’ll have to try again before the bill comes due.

SithLady: That’s super funny because that’s partly what I need Cable for: GOT and Property Brothers lol.
Have you any friends with HBO go? That might help tide you over till you get something sorted and you can hook your laptop up to the TV with a HDMI cable if you’ve got one.

ryverthorn: I’ve found that it’s easiest to get ahold of them on the phone as soon as the phones open in the morning at 7 am EST.
windowlulu: I have no internet either, so HBOGo is a no go.
Latest word from Darling Husband is that someone has stopped by and is working outside on getting the cable up and running. Fingers crossed.

Ugh Frontier is the absolute WORST! We moved out to the country last year, and they were the only internet provider that serviced our area, and they’ve been a nightmare. My first 4 months, they seriously overcharged me-like my bill should be $70, and I received bills that were $300-$400. Each time, I called, complained…and they had a different excuse as to why it was wrong.
Finally, they fixed the billing issue…then I went to pay. It gave me an error message, and told me to try again. I tried again…same thing. Tried one last time, and it still said it couldn’t process the payment. So, I ended up calling and paying the phone fee because I didn’t want to be overdue. WELLLL….they had charged me the $70 charge 5 times, plus the fee. I had to call back…and explained to them what happened. They said, oh, yea, our computer system is having issues so we’ll fix it on your account. I assumed that meant they’d refund me the $280 extra they took from me. Nope, I just had an account credit. I mean, it worked out fine…but I didn’t really want to pay my bill 5 months out.
Oh…and could the service be any slower? I can’t stream anything from 5pm-9pm…none of the Directv on demand stuff, netflix, youtube…nothing. Also, if we have both of our phones on the internet, we can’t stream anything. Plus, the range is so terrible, that we don’t get internet in about 50% of our house.
Whew–vent over. I just take any opportunity I can get to complain about Frontier. Sorry you have to switch to them!! I’d pay anything to get a different provider.

SithLady: oooh keep me posted on how you go.

I work in commercial property management and I have about 30 branch facilities that are currently in transition from Verizon to Frontier. Cue meltdown in
