@hergreenapples:  that’s happened to me the few times I have tried temping.  Is yours pink and the Target brand? (at least, I think it was the Target brand).

@hergreenapples:  Is it the Life brand thermometer from Shopper’s Drug Mart (a pinkish-purple thermometer)? If so, I had the same problem.

I ordered mine from amazon. Nexcare (also pink). No problems at all!

Would you ever ask your husband to record your temp for you?  Some practitioners of NFP/FAM actually recommend this because it makes family planning a mutual activity, instead of solely your responsibility.

@hergreenapples:  I never really had to do anything about our thermometer because we got pregnant on the cycle we bought it regardless of losing temps, but when I talked to Shopper’s they told me that it actually is only supposed to store the temp for 5-10 seconds (It’d be nice if they mentioned this on the packaging, eh?).

A friend of mine got really accurate results TTA with the generic thermometer from Zellers- I think it is blue. If all else fails, you might have to bite the bullet and turn on the light for a couple of seconds to read the result and log it in your phone. Super annoying the way that particular thermomter is advertised though.

@hergreenapples:  Maybe they think us crazy TTC ladies will turn it on again in 5-10 seconds? Haha.

I keep a flashlight beside my thermometer on the nightstand so I can look at it quickly, lock in my brain and go back to sleep. I”m usually up a half hour after that and then I log it in. Wouldn’t it be great if instead of beeping for ten seconds a digital voice told you the temp? No annoying beeping, no lights required!

I quickly put the temp in my phone (iPeriod app) so I don’t lose it – then chart it later on. 🙂

@JumpingJacks:  Yeah, same here.  I basically look at the temp and then go back to bed.  So later I have an idea what it is.  Then later I double check and I think I’ve only been wrong once or twice.

How totally frustrating! The one I have does store the temp for 5 sec after you turn it on again. I wake up, put it in my mouth, wait for the beep, ( sometimes I read it, sometimes I don’t) turn it off by pressing the on/off button. Then when I am up and ready to chart I turn it on again and the display will show the last temp for about 5 sec before it resets.

I am also in canada and could find one in local stores so I ordered online from makeababy.ca
