You could always book in at a beauty salon, or a concession stand in a department store – they often have very good makeup artists eg MAC. Or contact a local beauty school and I’m sure there would be students available to do it for some cash. There are plenty of options, don’t panic.

Ask the artists who say they are busy to recommend other artists. And if you are getting married in a big city, there are services like Glam Squad and DryBar (for hair).

Yikes if your late then I’m way past due! Mine is in less than four and I haven’t booked anyone yet! seems like there is still availability in my area though. I’m not sure where you are located but if it is somewhere like the US there are a number of things you could try. First look into some hair salons, often those have makeup artists. Also day spas and  hotel spas usually offer makeup. Last you could always look into an appointment at a store such as ulta or Sephora although I know that is not ideal on the day of! Good luck I’m sure it will all work out!!

If it makes you feel better: For the last wedding I was in, only two girls did their own makeup and those girls looked the best out of all 9 bridesmaids. The rest of us paid an assload of money for some over-hyped Instagram MUA who really didn’t work any magic. Even the bride looked blah, and she had done TWO trials beforehand!

This is really surprising to me. I booked my hair and makeup about a month out, and there were multiple places available. I’ve never heard of having to book a year in advance. Maybe take a breath and go back and look more – I’m sure there’s some who are not yet booked.

If there are wedding groups in your area on Facebook i would try posting on there. Around me makeup artists and other vendors will usually comment if they’re available!

Some spa locations near me offer makeup services, like, can even make custom shades for you. I would maybe visit some dept. store counters to see if anyone outside of their day job does any freelance work and could do a private appointment at your ceremony location, or house.

Try not to panic! In order to alleviate your anxiety, you may want to start watching make-up tutorials and investing in high-quality make-up.  I am getting married at a mountain resort, and while I do have their in-house make-up artist (and hair stylist) booked for my wedding, I will not be able to do a trial before my big day.

I am extremely type-A and this freaked me out. So, I purchased some high quality make-up and have started practicing doing my own wedding make-up and hair.  It is actually going pretty well!! I am at a point now where I would be comfortable re-doing/ fixing my make-up and/or hair on my wedding day if I have to.  While I doubt it will come to that, I am no longer stressing about my hair and make-up. Perhaps practicing doing your own make-up would make you feel better too? I am sure you will find someone, but this might help with the stress!

Do your own make up? Doesn’t seem like the end of the world.

megm1099 :  Agree with PP, I am four months out and I haven’t booked anyone! Don’t even know if I’m going to hire anyone period TBH. I’ve thought about it, but I know lots of brides who did their own and it looked great! You could do your own trial with a few YouTube tutorials! Maybe you can also ask your hair stylist if they do makeup as well or have an in-house artist that you can hire with them?
