Hugs! Hope you feel better soon!

I have TMJ flareups (usually when I’ve got too much on my plate), but it’s not as bad as yours. My face just hurts after the dentist so I take lots of Advil in advance.

What kind of mouth guard do you use?

Oh no! That’s terrible. I can only imagine the level of pain you must be feeling right now. Big hugs to you!

bippidyboppidyboo :  I feel you! I have TMJ flare ups (usually when I’m stressed or have been eating alot of crunchy foods) and they are horrible! I have to go in for root scaling/planing on all 4 quads in January (so 1 appt. per week) and my jaw is going to be killing me by the end of it all… sooo not looking forward to that!

bippidyboppidyboo :  the dentist is the worst!!! I HATE having my teeth worked on. I had so much work done on my teeth as a kid that I think that’s what made me hate it. The dentist was very rough and several times left me with a bloody mouth when leaving from just a cleaning. I had to have a crown done a few months back and it was just so terrible, eventhough the dentist was great. I feel ya!

I have mild TMJ that I think was caused from trauma, around the time I got my wisdom teeth removed. I’m not sure if it’s related, but that’s when I started noticing my jaws were “clicking” when I opened them too wide. I don’t have pain (yet) or anything but I notice if I keep my mouth open too long (ex: dentist) or click them too often (eating hard foods) I tend to get tension headaches and migraines.

Braces made eating less tiring, but the clicking is still there. I don’t think it affects my life enough to warrant surgery though. I love going to the dentist regardless.

Hugs..

I always hate it when my dentist asks me not to drink something cold for a couple of hours and it is freaking summer..

I had a dentist hold me down to work on my teeth after I told him the novocaine wasn’t working, then call me a baby when I had tears in my eyes. That definitely put me off dentists for a while! It’s still pretty bad, but my dentist now is great and gives me a Valium to take before my appointment. It’s getting to where I don’t need it for cleanings…finally :/
