Orajel…

And don’t wait to get those suckers pulled. I had mind pulled a few months ago; it was not as bad as I thought it would be.

I don’t have any suggestions for pain meds but I would really recommed going to an oral surgeon for the procedure. I didn’t and ended up with lockjaw! I couldn’t eat anything wider then pizza for over a year without it being a big production.

You don’t need a prescription for Motrin (ib Proffen), just get the 200mg bottle from the store and take 4 pills, and boom, you are taking prescription strength. Also, I would get some Popsicles to help sooth and numb the area.

I waited a few days in between my consult and removal of my wisdom teeth. I was in soooooo much pain (on was infected). I soaked a cotton ball or gauze in clove and olive oil. That numbed my mouth and worked really quickly. Ice helped too.

Good luck!

I’ve been avoiding having mine out for 20 years. Don’t be like me.

@SouthernGirl:  I got mine at Whole Foods. I can imagine any health food store would have some.

Even just 4 200 mg ibuprofen will do wonders – it’s the same as prescription strength.  I’m 30.75 years old and just need to get one wisdom tooth out for the first time. Yuck :/

Ugh, I am so sorry.  I went through the same thing, all while working at a coffee shop.  Talking all day was not fun- I wound up crying in the back room several times!  Advil helped, as did ice, but it didn’t get any better until I had them removed.  Frown  the recovery was a little grueling, but after a few weeks I felt so much better!

I hope you feel better soon!

@SouthernGirl:  You can use any ib Proffen, generic or name brand, take 800 mg and it will work the same.  I like to buy the 750-1000 count, and just take 4 pills at a time. I have TMJ problems, which comes with chronic pain.
