Okay, so i bought my dress about a month ago after trying on at least 50 dresses…. i was totally sure that my dress was “the one”. we are having an outdoor ceremony followed by a reception in a more rustic lodge. i wanted a lace dress that showed my figure but also loved fuller tulle ballgowns, so when i found my dress i felt like it had the best of both worlds!
then i made the mistake of showing people my dress.. at least 20 people have said they love it, so why is it the one bad comment that sticks in my head??? i showed it to a girl who is a more casual friend after she asked me several time to see the picture, and the only thing she said was “wow, that’s a lot of dress!” (and not in a nice way… she then said “could you take out a couple layers of tulle??”) and i was kind of surprised because i don’t think it’s overwhelming or anything…
so now i’m looking for some reassurance… do you guys think my dress is too much? 🙁 in the second pic, the tulle has so much body because the dress was being kept in a bag… but i really do love how full it looks there so that’s how i’m hoping it turns out when it’s my dress not the sample!

@sleepyhead22: If YOU like it that’s all that matters. I think it’s definitely “a lot of dress” but that’s what you were going for…she could have been more tactful about it.

pshhhh don’t listen to her! It’s gorgeous! Wear it with confidence, girl! You look amazing!

I know what you mean- the one negative comment always sticks with me too! Ignore her, you look really beautiful

If only you had responded with “Wow, that’s a lot of rude!”
Don’t let her comment get you down, you have a gorgeous dress which you love, so that’s all that matters.

It’s absolutely gorgeous!!!! Don’t listen to her 🙂

I think it is gorgeous. And you love it, so don’t listen to anybody else!

I wouldn’t think too much of it – it’s probably the kind of tactless and thoughtless comment I myself might have made before I understood how incredibly overwhelming and stressful this whole process is! Don’t let her get to you – you love your dress (and it is the best of both worlds!), but like everything else in your wedding you won’t be able to please everyone, so it’s best to just block them out and do things your own way 🙂

A totally gorgeous dress! A wedding dress is special; it’s not like a normal dress!

I think the side photo is “a lot of dress” but from what it sounds like, I think thats what you were aiming for in a sense right? I would have just responded with “a lot of dress?! awesome! thats exactly what I was going for! sweet!” tell her yes you can remove a few of the layers of tulle and then you will give them to her so she can shove em in her mouth to keep her from saying such dumb things.

@sleepyhead22: Ummm I think that is a pretty typical sized skirt. I certianly wouldn’t see it and go “whoa! that’s a big dress!” and I’ve only been to about a dozen weddings.

@Little_Nut88: haha i wish!! always think of these things AFTER the fact. 🙁
@linnylou_88: exactly! another girl was even there with me and said “oh if it looked like the first picture i would add more layers to get it to look full”, so she confirmed my thinking that it looks better with more body… idk why this one comment is sticking with me so much though. 🙁 and thanks! 🙂
@raisedonrobbery: aww thank you so much!! dreamy is always how i describe it, too. 🙂
@sanjessica: yeah, that’s a really good point… i think i need to go back to my policy of not talking about the wedding! lol

@stardustintheeyes: bahahahaha i loved that visual!! thank you! 🙂 yeah, i really did love the side view, i think it has just the right amount of drama. and i’m sure that once it’s steamed and everything it will have MUCH less body, which i’ll be okay with, but if it looked like it did there i’d be happy with it too. :/
@beachbride1216: thank you! that is reassuring. 🙂 i definitely tried on much bigger dresses, so this one didn’t feel huge to me…
