@sceeder:I’m rough rough rough on my ring so I don’t see why your e-ring would wear down faster.

That’s a bummer. I wonder what makes this setting different than other gold engagement rings.

I used to work for a jewelry store, and I never heard that right hand rings are not meant to be worn every day.  I sold right hand rings all the time to woman who wore them every single day, and they never even had a loose stone when they brought them back for inspection six months later.

I also sold gemstone rings–all colors–as engagement rings, and again, never had an issue with the stones coming loose.  A quality ring should be able to be worn all the time, the exception being opals and pearls, which are extremely soft and can be damaged easily even by water.

It sounds to me as though your setting is defective. One thing that is nice about your ring is the half bezel is a rather safe setting for your stone. It’s unlikely, even if it rattles, that the stone will fall out.

Please don’t feel bad about your ring because that second jeweler told you it wasn’t meant to be an engagement ring.

One question…  Did you have your ring resized?  It’s very difficult to resize a bezel setting without causing the stones to loosen.
