You can do a lot with lighting. I mean it would seriously transform that space. Are those drop ceiling tiles? Fingers crossed that they are. Some draping and lighting will make it look fantastic and since it is daddy’s space it should mean you can have it a little longer than usual, right?

I’m assuming you don’t like the walls.  I think the money that you are saving by not having to rent the place you probably could do some drapings on the wall and some lights or lots of candles.  I honestly don’t think its bad

What are some specifics about the banquet hall do you not like?  Have you been there before?  Maybe it’s the quality of the photos that is throwing you off.

I completely agree about the lighting. Also look at rentals of different linens and chair covers. Think of all the savings since yuour Dad owns the place.

Lots of draping ideas here

with your theme drapes would work really well.  You could use white, grey and the soft pink with the drapes.

I personally like this

– the whole room is draped in one colour with uplighters adding a pop of colour around the room.

Lighting will do wonders for that room to lighten it up and so will linens.  Some nice light colored pintuck linens would really set the ton.  Another thing, with that ceiling low, maybe try and hang just a super ton of lanterns from it or that last picture from secondchances, the stary night one, wow those would be awesome.  And you could pick those up starting next week at the after christmas sales.

I promise you, that with the right fixtures that room will look exactly like you want it too.  I have seen David Tutera turn some worse places (1000x worse) into the most beautiful settings.  It just takes some creative thinking.  I know you can do it.

Lighting and draping will be your answer I think!  You can have a BEAUTIFUL reception in that room!

Definitely drape the walls & ceiling, add lighting, AND rent chiavari chairs.  If you are going to cover the walls with fabric, I think that chair covers/sashes would be too much/too heavy.

I agree with a lot of the other posts.  With the money you’re saving, you could definitely transform the place.  I think it would be fun to try to make the place cohesive with your scheme.  Try lighting and decorations.  And remember, you are more in tune with details of the hall than everyone else will be.  The guests will be more focused on you and your fiance.

I am super jealous of you…hee heee. You can definately work with that stage. I love the stage up tigh and you can have the dj/band there. I would try to use lighter colors to make the room more lively. Also you can see if he can use square or long tables instead of the round ones. Good luck
