I had a horrible proposal dream! I dreamed that he was on the bed and I came into the bedroom. The box with the ring was open on the dresser and I was like “What is this?”. He said “That’s your ring. We are engaged now”. Then he just rolled over and took a nap!

The real proposal was very sweet and well thought out.

While I didnt have an ugly ring dream…. I just hoped my ring would not be one of those rings that were popular in the 80’s, I had no clue what my ring was going to look like or what size it would be so I waited in anticipation.  He got me a single 1.01 carat soltaire on a thin band.  Nothing to write home about and at first I was mortifed because of the thin ban, I have size 9.5 fingers on a swollen day.  But once I paired my e ring with all my stackable bands I completely love it and wouldn t change a thing about.  I still and I have almost been married  year, look down at my rings everyday they mean so much to me and the whole issue wiht the thin band is a far distant memory.

You obviously have a man who is old fashioned when it comes to picking out the E ring ( so do I) and there is nothing wrong with that.  No that whatever he gives you  , it is coming from his heart.

Hope you don’t have any more bad dreams… I know the anticipation is tuff and I am sure whatever he does it will be pretty and represent your love.

chevaldame:  LOL. Dreams can be so strange. Of course, there’s not too much in the way of symbolism or hidden meaning in yours. Maybe the gala represents how much of a “big deal”  the proposal and the ring are in your mind. Otherwise, it’s obvious that you feel that BF’s approach shows a certain lack of concern for your tastes and wishes. And that you don’t really trust him to get it right.

IMO it’s a bit hypocritical of Boyfriend or Best Friend to be OK to have the whole engagement and ring conversation, while a discussion about the kind of rings you admire is so off limits. It would be one thing if you had no idea a proposal was coming, and had never discussed it, but that is not the case. My other thoughts are  is there an heirloom ring in the picture by any chance? Or could he already have the ring?

Fireflysushi:  Haha. I’m glad the real thing was better!

Lol I love the sort of things your imagination can dream up. After we bought my ring and I was waiting for it, I had a dream Fiance gave me the box just to check it was ok, and when I opened it the ring was blue! Like blue stone and blue coloured gold. It was lovely, just blue lol

chevaldame:  LOL! I was so surprised when I came across your post! I have been researching rubies, red spinal and Pyrope Garnets. I would love a ruby; however the color I am looking at has a steep price tag! I have read that ‘they’ inject or treat the rubies with lead glass to hide the inclusions and heat-treat the gemstones. I am so busy with work and try to research all this in-between, so late last night before bed I had a few minutes to spare and read a few gemology forums. Though, I am nowhere close to knowing how these things work, I ended up going to bed no wiser than before. My Boyfriend or Best Friend said that we should go to the jeweler and talk to him instead and that I shouldn’t worry so much. It’s just a lot of money to spend and there are several technicalities to consider, I am dog trainer and work with dogs al day I need something durable that will last. But I left it there, or so I thought! I had the most horrible dreams, or should I say nightmares, all night and my left ear itched terribly (?). I dreamt that all these people came to me with gemstones mostly in shades of blue saying that it’s all about the color, every time I asked about quality they would say it’s all about color to forget about what I have been told it’s the color alone that makes the difference! The blue stones became more  green as the dream progressed and the people that brought them to me were all men dressed in suits, 50’s style like Fred Astaire with bouffant hair dos and all! I got up this morning totally exhausted and relieved at the same time, tired because I didn’t sleep much but grateful there would be no more salesmen trying to sell me blue and green gemstones! Oh and as soon as I got up my ear stopped itching!
