So after looking at engagement rings with a friend (who is hoping to have the question popped to her this year, there have been several hints and “show me what you like”s), I’ve almost decided I like the solitare (pave band) look and am thinking of switching. :O
Can any ladies show me theirs? I have a 1.35 carat ideal cut, G color, VS1 on a size 5 ring. So anything close to that would help me determine the solitare setting.
Here is my ring:

Don’t get me wrong, I LOOOVE my ring, but I was thinking something like this:

I would keep your ring. There are many pretty rings out there but I cant imagine trading in the ring that my husband picked out for me and proposed with.

@heathuhhhhwebbbb: Noooo! Keep your halo, it is so beautiful and looks great on you. At least give it a while before you decide to change. I find the more I look at other rings and try things on, the more I want to change. Take a break from looking and you will probably fall back in love with it.

@Bostongrl25: I might going against the grain here, but I don’t really have a lot of sentimental value on my engagement ring. Not because I don’t love it. I’m not sure why. We both picked it out together, and picked out the original diamond, and the upgraded one I got a few weeks ago. π Fiance is 100% okay with whatever makes me smile. And I’m always changing my mind about what I want, be it cars, shoes, or even my ring. I’m sorta ADD in that way.
@Pinkypez: LOL You’re probably right! The forums sometimes get to me too! π

Didn’t you just upgrade your diamond to a bigger one? I think you’d have serious regret if you switched from a halo to a solitaire because it’s going to look so much smaller. I’m not even a big fan of halos and I think your actual ring looks so much prettier than the stock photo you posted.

@heathuhhhhwebbbb: I am not a halo fan but I LOOOOVE yours!! It is so beautifully made. I’m like you, I change my mind all the time about things, jewelry especially!! If you know you are like that, chances are if you change your ring you’ll want to change it again anyway, lol! I say keep it because I think your halo is simply gorgeous. But if you’re feeling the itch, go ahead and do something different!

@starla: Yes, I did. Not much bigger though. I went from a 1.12 to a 1.35. But I upgraded on the other C’s, which was mostly what I wanted to do. π And thank you for the compliment on my halo. For non-halo fans, it really means a lot!
@AP1976: LOL! I think it might be a sickness! There just seems to be so many beautiful options out there to pick from.

@heathuhhhhwebbbb: Yeah, I just think you’d be shocked at the size difference! I think I would be, too, if I were switching from a halo to a solitaire. And while I prefer solitaires in general…definitely, your current ring is just far more attractive than the solitaire you posted, IMO. But yeah, I totally get where you’re coming from about changing your mind…lol. I am the same way.

I do think the new style is very pretty and classic, I prefer it to the halo. But, you also don’t want to get into a trap of endlessly changing your ring. Maybe you should think about it longer.

@heathuhhhhwebbbb: It is totally a sickness. I started out with a solitaire, then switched to a pave band, and after a devastating loss of my ring – I now have a 3 stone with side sapphires, lol! But this one has always been a favorite of mine and my husband says no more changes, lol! A good way to get different looks is to add stackers with your wedding band. Maybe some colored ones if you like those. If you get a pave wedding band, adding in a sapphire stacker or something like that would be gorgeous, and you can swap out differet ones for different looks!

@joya_aspera: I certainly don’t want to constantly change my ring. LOL, lets hope that isn’t what happens. π
@AP1976: And I’m thinking of getting a rose gold pave wedding band, but haven’t decided yet. Since we are getting married in May, I’ve been on the prowl. π Can you show me your newest ring? I’d love to see it!

@heathuhhhhwebbbb: I love rose gold! Rose gold pave band would be so beautiful. Here are mine π I mostly wear them separately since I find it a bit much on one hand, but here they are together.

Haha I’m bias because I don’t like halos. =
But… if you change it once, are you going to keep changing it?? lol

@AP1976: Oh I LOOOVE them together! My niece’s (she’s 22 and I’m 26) engagement and wedding band remind me of yours! Except she has smaller side stones. I love the splash of color though.
@yanamari: I’m prone to change. A lot. But I think once I find a setting, I can always change out the center stone again. I want to upgrade to at least a 1.5-2 carat, probably whenever I’m getting that itch really bad. *shrug*
I feel like I’m going to get a lot of hate on the number of times I’ll be upgrading/changing my ring. I understand sentimental value but I don’t have any towards my engagement ring…I will when I get my wedding band though. I won’t trade that in or up or anything.
