This morning has been … interesting.
It started off with me being completely ESTATIC because I received my invitation proofs via email. I looked everything over.
Spelling & punctuation – check.
Addresses – check.
Times & Dates – check.
Shipping Address? Check. Colors & Paper quality? Check.
APPROVED! Off to the Printers! Yay! Excitement ensues!
Approx. 15 minutes later:
Yay! My 150 invites for 150 guest are coming …. wait. What? An invitation for EACH INDIVIDUAL PERSON??????????? Fuck me.
Wedding Bee, I take complete responsibility for this being overlooked. How no one else noticed is beyond me! Have approximately 80 EXTRA invitations being printed. I have no idea what to do with them. Waste of Money, Waste of Pater.
How How How did this get over looked? I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry. Because I think it’s sort of hilarious this happened, and I can just picture the teasing that will happen when people find out. Which is WHY… I am not going to tell anyone except the Hive. LOL.
You now all know never to trust me to count anything ever.
Crap. Please tell me I’m not the only one who made such a drastic mistake? I feel like a complete loser. Who does this? I do. *shame shame double shame*

@.twist.: If it helps, I bought three packs of the paper I need…and only needed ONE! ooops! My Fiance, fortunately, just shrugged and said he knew I’d find a use for ’em….
not exactly the same, but kinda???
and look at the brightside: you now have PLENTY of extras for mistakes!!!!
@.twist.: don’t feel shame. Now you have plenty of extras for pictures and scrapbooking 🙂 I did however giggle at your misfortune.

@Zinzerena: hahaha kinda. except now, whenever I have a BBQ people are going to get invites with whited out lines and sloppy writing in place of it inviting them to my casual bbq with a formal invite.
@mwitter80: haha… I’ve honestly been laughing at myself all morning. I can’t believe I let this happen. wah! “OMG! I Lost your Invite” “don’t worry, I think I can find an extra one”.

@.twist.: Maybe you can start a new wedding trend and send individual invites to guests? You won’t have to worry about plus ones, if you didn’t get an invite, you’re not invited.
Or, this may be a stretch, but what about using the invites as a sort of guest book at the wedding? People do it with postcards, you could have a stack there and they could write you guys a note on the back.
Just trying to make the best of it.

haha its good to hav extras though I ordered more than I needed. I bought 150 invites for 175 guests and I ended up with lots left over, but it was good because I made quite a few mistakes when rubber stamping and addressing the envelopes

@bells: I guess I will definitely have a lot of extra envelopes so I won’t worry too much if I make a mistake. haha… I still feel soooooo dumb right now. *sigh*
@Sking: Oh, I love the guest book idea, I just wish the invites were a little more simple now… there isn’t much room to write anything. I so would have done that too! 🙁

Well, you are not me who bought 150 for 200 guests which morphed into 235 guests and then I started stressing about not having enough invites and some guests didn’t receive their invites. Instead of sending them another one, I told them where and when. Not cool per etiquette but I didn’t have any to spare 🙁 So please, better to have too much than too little.

@bRooklynRocks: aw! Well…. if you wanna share, I have extras? hehehe
I guess it’s just important to have a good sense of humor about it right? Mistakes happen. I’m sure your guests don’t even miss them, and we kind of balanced eachother out. You saved the tree I would’ve killed.

I was the same way. I ordered 100 invitations for maybe 70 people… ut ohs. Lol.

When I was helping a friend with invitations for her wedding we did the same thing. I didn’t question at all how many we were making because I didn’t know how big her guest list was. I later found out I cut out about twice as many of these stupid freaking leaves that she put on each invitation. Those damn leaves scarred me for life.

Oh ladies, you’re making me feel so much better. I wonder if I can make about 40 new friends in the next 3.5 months? Squish them into my tiny venue? LOL
Oh… I don’t know how I’m going to keep this from my Fiance. He can see the shame on my face a mile away! He’s never going to let me live this down. I have issues with numbers and he always teases me.

Maybe frame in a doublesided frame for you, your parents and Future In-Laws. That takes care of 6 and leaves 74!!
I have seen people make cards for the wedding out of wedding invitations. Very creative and cool. How about turning yours into your thank you notes?
Well it’s better to have too many than too few. You win there!

My fiance did the same thing with our save the dates! We have a box of about 100 extra save the date post cards sitting in our hall closet! Maybe we’ll give everyone a “keepsake” at the wedding 😉
Seriously though, it gets hard to keep track of what things are “per person” and what things are “per couple or ‘unit'” I’m sure you’re not the first and you definitely won’t be the last!
