Ok I need some help here. I was on Implanon contraceptive implant for around 18 months and had it removed at the beginning of March and had my first period on the 1st April. Now based on a 28 day cycle I am now 6 days late! My Fiance and I had a bit of a slip up where some breakage was involved so I am beginning to worry. I have been on hormonal contraception to regulate my periods since I was 15 (I am now 24) so I have no odea how long my natural cycle is. If I estimate by the longest margin (40 days) I am 6 days early. Have any of you UK brides been through this and offer any help? The confusion is all rooted in the implant removal…. Thank you in advance!

I’m not in the UK, but I do know that when an IUD is removed, you can have irregular periods for up to 6 months. However, if you are worried you might be pregnant, please take a test, it will give you peace of mind or confirm your feelings. Good luck!

I agree with the PP. It can take several months for your periods to regulate again. You might be pregnant, but there’s just as good a chance that it’s just your cycles being weird from the birth control.

Take a test and let us know what it says!

Thanks for the advice! I am thinking that it is most likely just my body settling down but I think I will give it another week then take a test and see what it says….. as much as I want and can’t wait to have children, right now might not be the best timing (moving house, starting new job AND a new degree at uni!) and we really wanted it to be planned……. will keep you posted…. really appreciate the help! 🙂
