@GoldieGlitters:  I have a 3 carat stone which is probably above average but it is aquamarine rather than diamond so I’m not sure if it really counts! Here is a pic though if you want to know how big that sort of size would look;

@GoldieGlitters:  haha thank you. I love everything vintage and antique so my fi chose  perfectly (though aparently he liked it because it matched his eyes – cheesy much?!). Aquamarine was also a fab choice because there no way we could afford a diamond of the same size and quality. If you are interested it cost £2,000 but is worth around £3,000.

@GoldieGlitters:  Oh also, I’m not sure what style ring you want or where in the UK you are based but it could be worth taking a trip to Hatton Garden in London, or that place in Birmingham, where you can design your own ring for often a fraction of the cost of buying one from the High Street.

@GoldieGlitters:  Good thread I’ve been wondering this. I have a 0.9 carat from Blue Nile. I initially ordered a 1.12 carat but when it came I felt like it was too big and flashy. None off my friends have rings that big and I felt a bit self conscious so I sent it back and got a 0.9. Both stones are really good quality… F colour VS2 Triple X ideal cuts.

Have to be honest though I have questioned my decision. Today was the last day I could send it back in the 30 day period and switch again. I decided not to as we could better spend the money but I am a little bit wishing I had a slightly bigger stone! Fiancé says I can change it on a significant anniversary in the future if we have the money but I suspect 5 years down the line I’ll have gotten over it :-/

I just swapped my 1.2 carat cushion cut for a carat round on a plain band ๐Ÿ™‚

I am a bit unusual I guess as I have a 2.5ct solitaire old cut diamond. I never thought I would wear anything this big in my lifetime, but have to admit that i do absolutely love it! I don’t think it’s over the top and its actually rare that people even notice it.

@Princesslaylaxo:  I feel so jealous my 0.90 looks teeny compared to your one carat! ๐Ÿ™‚

YES finally! I wanted to start a UK bees thread just like this but am too new to be brave enough to try it!

Here’s mine. GIA cert, G, VVS1, 1.01 ct, princess cut. I am a size 7 finger. I’m afraid I don’t know how much it cost as my Fiance won’t tell me any of those details. It’s extremely sparkly! The stone was bought separately and a family jeweller created my setting (18k WG). I have had very mixed reactions to my ring. Not sure why – I know it’s plain but it’s what I wanted.

Don’t have mine yet but its a 1.23 carat cushion. I know its bigger than all of my friends but then I’ve also waited longer ๐Ÿ˜‰

@MsKaren:  it’s weird cause I sometimes look at it and think its small compared to other 1 carats that I’ve seen! Must be because we get so used to seeing them on our own fingers everyday!

I have never seen anyone wear that sort of size IRL!

I don’t know my size, but I think it’s about a 0.3/0.4.

My cousin, who is quite wealthy, gave his wife something I would guess was about a 0.5. One of my friends, who is very wealthy, also has a 0.5.

I work in a university… I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone wearing over about a 0.6.
