5 hours’ drive! We are getting married in North Wales but live in London. Family and friends are split between up North and round London.

thatweddinggirl:  Dude! Are we the same person?

Cripps is our favourite venue – we’re going to do a final viewing next week whilst our in-laws are in town… and we also live an hour away (Herefordshire!)! Small, small world! We’re doing August 2018 – have you done a viewing yet? I didn’t take any pics when I went last time, but I can take a few next week and send them over if you like? πŸ™‚

The only thing I’d say about Cripps is… Have you done a rough calculation though via the available dates? The only thing that shocked me about Cripps was the £1800 they charge on top for staffing costs! The price for venue hire is super reasonable, the food isn’t even that bad (£52 for roast beef! yay!) but… eugh for staffing πŸ™

People are used to travelling for weddings and really, an hour isn’t that far. Have you gotten quotes for a coach? We had some really reasonable ones to pick up guests in Hereford, drop off and then collect that night to return back to Hereford. If not, there are tons of reasonable hotel semi close – your guests can make that judgement over whether they want to drink and not drive back.

thatweddinggirl:  I’ll spam you with some pics on Friday! I wanted November for pricing reasons… but we fell in love with their outdoor wedding ceremony site – the glade. It’s breathtaking! Ooooo I’d imagine the firepits would be to die for in the winter? You could do super cute little blankets!

But yeah…. I was super excited about the price until I saw the staffing cost was an additional extra. I think our loose quote for 80 was about £11k which is scary!

Mines in Italy so quite far haha!

My cousin got married about 45 minutes away from our hometown and she put on a coach to and from the venue to give people the option of travelling home if they wanted to. It just picked up and dropped off at a location which was pretty central to where most people lived, so that’s always an option you could look at?

ETA: beautiful venue by the way, if I’d got married in the UK I’d definitely go for that sort of look, love it.

our venue is two hours from where we live and an hour from our families.

There was nothing we liked in budget other than this place (Kent and Berkshire are expensive!) so that’s why the distance, lol.

If most people are travelling from the same area(s), maybe you could hire a coach to do a pick-up and drop-off? No idea about costs but at least then people wouldn’t have to drive or stay over. πŸ™‚

I’m from the very centre of Northern Ireland and our venue is an hour away from my home, and about 2 hrs away from my fiance and his family as well as friends.

No one is complaining, the first thing everybody did was book their hotel rooms, and everybody is just excited to be there with us on our big day !

it’s not selfish, it’s your one special day and if you love it, go for it πŸ™‚ x

thatweddinggirl :  wowwwww that’s a gorgeous venue! Fairylights! <3

We got married 1.5 miles from my parents house in south Manchester…. but, we had family coming up from the south, as fas away as Southampton. I think someone is *always* going to have to travel no matter where you choose. Some of our friends who live in Manchester city centre got hotels for the night even though the reception venue was only 10 miles out of town!

At the end of the day I’m sure your friends/family want you to choose a venue you’re happy with and wouldn’t think twice about travelling πŸ™‚
