Hey all,
This is my first post here, Fiance and I just got engaged a few weeks ago. I’m hoping to get married next summer in a small beach ceremony with about 30-40 (max), but have no real idea where to start!
So far I am toying with the following countries, but open to suggestions:
Cyprus
Greece
Malta
Croatia
The main priority here is not spending a lof of money- any advice/tips on where and what venues might be good?

Have you thought about maybe staying in the UK and marrying in Cornwall or Devon? We are very lucky to have some really beautiful, unspoilt beaches.

Amalfi/Sorrento in Italy are very popular for destination weddings, and Italy is a great holiday spot. Ive seen companies at wedding fairs who specialise in planning your wedding for you in Italy. I’ve been to a destination wedding in Malta which wasn’t too bad financially as a guest.
I’ve been to a beautiful beach wedding up in Northumberland too, if you’re open to more local beaches!

I second Cornwall or Devon, or The Gower in South Wales – if keeping costs down is your absoulte priority (over hot weather and traveling abroard) Some of the beaches here in the UK are brautiful at the right time of year.

One thing I’d consider if the process of getting married in each country – like do they have residency requirements, like France. Do you have to have a civil ceremony before church / outdoor celebration?
A friend got married in Malta and said it was really easy & convenient cause English is their official language!
Happy planning ๐

Croatia is beautiful and the area around Dubrovnik (and Lokrum Island) is a stunning place to get married, but its beaches are rocky beaches so just be aware that whilst its coastline is absolutely stunning, it wont be a sandy beach. Montenegro is another place to consider, its beaches surrounding Budva are beautiful and sandy.
My friend had a destination wedding in Cyprus and it was great, she said it was really affordable compared to the UK.

zzar45 : This was not the question.
cameobride : Thanks, I’ll take a look, although I heard Almafi can be expensive.
beeintraining5 : The weather is way too unpredictable here for a beach wedding, I’d rather not risk it!
bellsprout : Ah no, I’ll need the sun thanks, and getting married here automatically means a bigger (and more expensive) wedding.
dublingirl : We will legally get married here, so no need to worry about that ๐
Kate127 : Could you recommend your friend’s venue in Cyprus? Yeah, I’ve seen some of the beaches can be a little rough in Dubrovnik unfortunately.

Greece, Halkidiki region
Way cheaper than the Greek islands & Santorini but still beautiful : white sandy beach, crystal clear water…
Take a look ๐

Fiance and I went on a holiday to Madeira last year, fantastic beaches and people. This might be worth a look ๐
