Hi Wedding Bees,
I’ve been finding all your posts SO helpful in getting the wedding planning started so when I ran into my dress dilemma I joined Weddingbee to ask your advice!
I have fallen in love with a Marisa dress (677). I tried it on here in the UK in a size 12 and it was slightly too big – the woman thought I’d be a 10. Now, I have found the dress through Encore Bridal in a US size 8 for half the price and am SO keen to buy it. But I’m just unsure of the sizing. I’m usually a US size 4 (UK 8) in street clothes. The dimensions listed on the site though make the dress seem like it could be a touch small for me – and now I’m not sure whether the size I tried on here in the UK was in US or UK sizing.
Anyone, particularly Marisa brides, got any advice on sizing?!?
Thanks ladies – very much appreciated! x

Hmmm….I am typically a size 2 for tops and 4 for bottoms (US sizes). My Marisa 860 was ordered in a size 8 to fit my hips – but will need quite a few inches taken in at the bust and waist. Thats a tough call… the sample I tried on was a 10 and had quite a bit of room in it, so i had originally thought Id order a 6, but the saleslady said better to go larger than smaller… haha, this is no help at all, is it!?! The size thing is so confusing – it would be nice if it was more consistent!

Thanks! At the very least it’s good to hear you’re a US size 4 on bottom and ordered an 8 dress. … Given the potential saving of ordering the dress from the US (it’s a former sample and so half the price of the one in the UK) it might be worth taking a chance! If it turns out to be wrong I’ll just lose the shipping costs.

Oh if you can return it if it doesn’t fit, absolutely!! Who knows – even if its a smidge tight, it may be tight in just the right place and look hot. Silk charmeuse has a bit of give to it too. Let me know how it works out! There aren’t a whole lot of Marisa brides on here! 🙂
