Nope, I think you should have personally called them. If I were your Bridesmaid or Best Man I’d probably not order it and be kicked out.

Have they given you any reason about why the dresses haven’t been ordered yet?

Are you really going to follow through and not have them in the wedding?  Will that cause more drama than you want?

i’m going through similar problems with my bridesmaids, their dresses need to be ordered immediately and some have not. My opinion is that I don’t care what you have to do, so long as that dress is in hand and altered by the wedding date.

No, you shouldn’t have sent that email.  Way to unnecessarily escalate things.  One of my BMs hadn’t bought her dress by DB’s “deadline”… she went three weeks later and tada! she showed up in the right dress on my wedding day.  If she had to pay extra to rush, I have no idea.  I didn’t micromanage my BMs because I trusted them enough to get things done.

@Ashley1281:  Well the procrastination isn’t a reason.  Maybe it’s financial and they aren’t able to pay?  Are these people you’ve known a long time?  Personally, I think sending the email was the wrong way to go about it.

So let’s say they don’t follow.  Nearly all of them drop out.  There would not be time to get new BMs as you’re already past the 12 week window.

    What are your back ups?

    Just go with fewer BMs?

Keep them but let them pick their own dress within a color scheme?

I’m just trying to think how this will pan out.

I think you should have called them again. Maybe they forgot? Where are you ordering your dresses from? A lot of places lie and say it takes 12 weeks for the dress to come in, but it usually doesn’t take that long. My sisters ordered their dresses five weeks before my wedding and they stilll made it back in time.

@bookworm88:  +1. Some of my BMs bought dresses the week of the wedding. They missed the deadline? They’d better figure out a way to get them by January…not your problem. Try not to let it stress you, just worry about what you need to do to be ready.

So if she can’t be a Bridesmaid or Best Man, your numbers will be even?  Just chill and quit calling them!  Either this last one will buy a dress or she won’t.  You don’t have to print programs until the week of the wedding, you’ve got tons of time to see what happens.  I would resign if I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man and someone called me once a week to remind me of my “duties”.
