My first OB appt is March 1st. Do you actually get to do an ultrasound at the first appt? I should have asked the nurse when I made the appt with her but in my moment of excitement, I forgot. And…is it ok if my husband tags along, or should he wait for the later appts? I DON’T KNOW!!! This is all happening so fast! Thanks.

Feel free to call back and ask!
My experience – OB doesn’t have ultrasound, so they had me set up an appt at the hospital which ended up being 2 weeks later. My husband was critical at the first appt because they took a family history to help determine any risks to look out for. All visits after that, he came solely due to excitement/curiosity (like when we anticipated hearing the heartbeat for the first time) but for 100% routine visits it’s a waste of his time to come.

My OB did do an ultra sound the first visit. The first one is done a little different than the rest. Typically, they go up through the cervix. After the first ultra sound, they always did mine the “normal” way, on your belly! And yes, I would def. bring your husband! This will be the first glance at your little peanut! But, I would assume every OB is different, so I would def. call back and ask them!!
Oh and after the 1st appointment my fiance would come anytime something exciting was supposed to happen. Ultra sound, stuff like that. He didnt come to regular check-ups. They typically just weigh you, measure your belly, and ask how you feel. Then on your way!! Congrats!!!!

Thanks ladies!! It makes sense to have the hub come along to the first appt to get his history, but I’ll call my clinic and ask about that. Oooh March 1st can’t come soon enough!!!
