I do not think it would matter, but if it gives you a peace of mind, then schedule after you’d be due to get your period.  Stressing yourself out just is not worth it.

@hamikay:  There’s no radiation nor are there very many organs forming in the TWW (the only negative thing I’ve ever heard of about ultrasounds is that they may affect development of the ear bones/organs, but it’s way too early for that!), so I don’t think you have to worry at all. Even if they do transvag, I don’t think you have to worry.  Good luck on your blood tests! I am so happy to hear that you are getting worked up! You mayyy want to get your U/S like right before you think you’re going to O next actually to see if they see follicles. I dunno if they can without meds, I just know that people on like Clomid get follie scans and stuff.

I really wouldn’t worry about it too much. If they use ultrasounds to check out baby all through the pregnancy, I assume you’ll be fine. I avoided going at my period, but only because I wasn’t sure if they were going to do a trans-vag scan or not. Other than that, I haven’t heard anything about there being a best time to go.

Good luck for your tests & ultrasound – hope they bring you some helpful info & reassurance. Of course, even better I hope that this is your month =)

If you have regular cycles I would probably wait and try to schedule the US just before ovulation. If you ovulate cd 14  I would try to get an appt cd 11/12. This will allow you to sneak in/get some additional information such as the thickness of your lining and if an egg is ready to go. Or if you get your US at the very beginning of the cycle they can do an Antral Follicle Count (AFC). This is a good indicator for ovarian reserve.

@hamikay:  That’s good news! They’ll combine your ultrasound with bloods before they’ll confirm PCOS (usually) – so no panicking until you have to!

@hamikay:  It’s tough to say what that means. I know that sometimes my ultrasound techs/doctors refer to follicles (cysts with developing eggs inside) as cysts. It really depends on the size, I think? Little ones all in a row are PCOS-type, really large ones (around 30mm) are a different kind of cyst. In between those two sizes are the ones you want to have because they will grow and release eggs.
