I only let one friend try it on because she was about to get engaged (she knew it might happen sometime in the nearish future) and wanted to see how the fit was. She thought she was the same size finger as I am, and turns out she wasn’t. This was good, because I could tell her bf her real size so he could get it resized before proposing!

It’s the persistence of the young woman that is the problem rather than the request itself. Why won’t she take no for an answer?

I don’t really see the issue here. Girls like pretty things and usually want to touch and/or try them on. Multiple people have asked to try it on and it doesn’t bug me.

haha I don’t care if ppl want to try on my ring. I even let my brothers gf try on my wedding dress! haha idc about things like that, it’s just possesions.

Yes it is just a ring and no I don’t believe in the superstition behind someone else wearing your engagements ring…
…but in a world where everything is temporary and replaceable I personally would want to make my engagement ring something special between me and my SO. So when I get engaged I wont let anyone, not even my sister, try on my ring. x

Im not supersticious but i am one of those people that “just in case” wont do some things that supersticious people think are bad.
I wouldn’t let a friend try on my ring, but i did give it to my mom on my wedding day, she put it on her pinky 🙂
She’s my mom tho so nothing bad there.

I do think its personal preference, but if youve said no I don’t understand why she keeps asking, that seems like poor manners to me. I personally have not cared when people have put my ring on, but my fiancée hates it, so I no longer allow people to do so.

Maegan: I would let them, but that’s just me. Once.
You have told her no repeatedly, asked her to stop bringing it up, and made it very clear that she could cut it out. I would be annoyed to.
It sounds to me that even if you let her, she’d want to do it again and again.
