It’s kind of odd for her to ask, but what’s the big deal? just let her try it on for a second.

I don’t really see the big deal, but everyone feels differently. None of my friends have ever asked to try mine on, but my 5 year old niece once tried to pry it off my finger so she could. I told her my fiancé super glued it to my finger and now it’s permanently attached. She hasn’t tried since 🙂

I also let people try it on all the time. I’m flattered by the thought.

Wow, well since this post has been brought back, I guess I’ll put in my 2 cents.

Some people have thought into this subject way too deeply. I don’t believe in superstions. Yes, the ring is a beautiful symbol of your love, but at the same time, that’s all it is. A symbol. If your love is real, it’ll still be there no matter what the geography of the ring happens to be. It is still just a ring. I’d personally take it as a compliment if someone wanted to try on my ring. I might block the doors so they couldn’t run away with it, but I’d still be flattered.

No one’s ever asked me, but I honestly wouldn’t want anyone to try it on!

I love that this is such an old post… But it’s something I’ve thought about!  When I wasn’t engaged, I totally wanted to try on my friends’ rings, but I always thought it would be rude to ask, so I never did.  Now that I am engaged, I really don’t think I’d let my friends try it on… unless they were really close, then it wouldn’t bother me I guess… Still weird to me though!

Wow. I didn’t even realize this was a thing. If a friend wanted to try on my ring, of course I would let her. It costs me nothing and my friend gets what she wants. I really don’t see the value in saying no to something like this.

I let my friends try it on all the time, who cares, I wanted to do the same thing when one of my friends got engaged…it’s just a quirky thing maybe my friends and I are fine with. I don’t think it’s a big deal though.

It’s fun when you’re not engaged. You show your friend how excited about their ring and you get to see how it feels for a second. That being said, I wouldn’t ask anyone who wasn’t a close friend. And if the person said no, I wouldn’t push. I once asked on of my best friends to try hers on and someone else said ooh no that’s bad luck and I said pshhh. She still let me try it, but said if her marriage ends, she will know who to blame. Now that I’ve got my ring, I don’t mind others “experiencing” it. It’s flattering.

WHat the odd thing about the whole situation is that the girl kept on asking.

Why did the girl want to try on the ring so bad? Asking the OP over and over to try it on. Even when she said no alot. Its weird.

Wonder what happened. Did they talk about it eventually? lol

Either way I dont think I would care. hough Im not sure. I dont remember anyone asking me.

I think that’s strange. I’ve never had anyone ask me to try on mine, and I don’t know if I’d let them…I’m not sure,

I let my sister try it on, but no onehas really asked. I’d probably find it strange but let them anyway.

I don’t see it as an issue, I commented on my friends wedding ring at work and she whipped it off her finger and put in in my hand for me to have a closer look. If you are proud of your ring why not show it off?
