So, this is kinda weird. I got a phone call from 608-663-8591 and chose to ignore it. This guy named “James” left me a message congratulating me on my recent engagement and saying that I won a bridal package and to call back at 800-676-4731.
I Googled the number and got to this site: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-676-4731 where everyone confirmed that it’s a scam. We all had something in common besides our recent engagements…
We had all either visited or signed up for emails to the same store. I don’t want to bad-mouth anyone, so I will refer to this store as “This Store” from now on.
Ladies, if you receive these calls, I’m just warning you that it might not be in your best interests. I have no intention of bashing This Store, but I’m pretty unhappy about this and want to save a few brides from unwanted calls.
ETA: You can make them stop calling you by changing your preferences or emailing This Store, but like I said, I’m posting this because I was not aware that my phone number would be used for any kind of scams/ anything other than this specific company’s use for my wedding experience.

There are many posts about ” That Store” abusing their phone number access! Craziness…thank you for spreading the awareness and gathering the polciy in question!

- Wedding: January 2013 - Atrium at the Curtis Center
I had to click on the link to see what the “store” was! I’ve heard that about them, I didn’t give them ANY of my information when I went there. I brought a very strong willed friend who strong armed them into letting my try on dresses without giving them my information.

@Eva Peron: Absolutely. I thought it was weird since I have been engaged for less than a month, haven’t talked to any vendors over the phone or visited any bridal shows, and suddenly I win a package I didn’t even sign up for…
@Miss Lyre: Good for you! I thought that they would be a solid company to trust, but they’ve unfortunately lost my business. Good thing there are lots of cute dresses out there 😉

Is it David’s Bridal? Because they sell your info to everyone and their brother with zero regard to what they want with your info down the line!

@Britk: I had a phone call from the same number this afternoon. Since I didn’t recognize it, I let it go to voice mail. The name of the company he mentioned was garbled, but he said he had “wedding packages for you and Paul”. As I haven’t put our names on any wedding sites, it seems unlikely to me.

“If any proposed change is unacceptable to you, you may request that we remove your personal information from our records by sending us an e-mail at [email protected] or write us at: 1001 Washington Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.”
I have gotten SO much scam email/calls from people This Store sold my information to or gave it to or whatever. I just found this, and I emailed and hopefully they remove me.

@Miss Sweet Pea: I just emailed them to remove my number and unsubscribed from further emails… I’m going to take my money somewhere else (:
I also sent them a nice little email about professionalism towards their brides. We’ll see if I get a response. But honestly, as long as the calls stop coming, I don’t care.

Well just got a phone call from this number, googled it and sure enough found this thread.
Thank GOODNESS you all have the same opinions, because I was treated like GARBAGE by this place! I went becuase they’re typically cheaper and have a wide selection but ended up going with a great little local boutique because David’s was so awful. I will tell anyone I speak to about the negative experience. I emailed the address sweetpea posted so here’s hoping they don’t both me anymore!

Same happened to me but I honestly didn’t think much of it until I saw this post… I’m so happy I didn’t go with DB for my wedding dress!

- Wedding: November 2015 - none yet
I recieved a call but I couldn’t understand the message left on my voicemail and accidently deleted it. However, after seeing it, I don’t feel so bad now. A bit of a bummer that someone would try to scam engaged couples!

This is definitely still happening. I didn’t even shop at “The Store.” I entered a contest on FB and ever since I get a couple calls a week letting me know I’ve “won” something somewhere bridal related. It’s so awful.

I’m still getting calls. Probably because I went to a bridal show a couple months ago -_-

@Britk: Ugh. Why don’t you answer and scream hysterically “The wedding was cancelled? Does that make you happy?! Stop reminding me!”

@AlwaysSunny: Oh my goodness. I should. I should just start bawling and ask them to stay on the line for a moment while I collect myself. And then start flirting with them and asking if they’d use the package with me since I’m “back on the market”.
