Since I can’t predict the weather for June 2014 I would like to give my guests umbrellas to either #1 Shade them from direct sun or #2 protect in case of rain. Want to hang opened umbrellas at reception site on suspended string to offer more shade/store them beautifully. I was thinking about 2 person golf sized umbrellas.
Is this a dumb idea?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think it’s a very practical idea.

So if it’s sunny or raining and people are using them, will they get in the way of the reception? Will people’s eye’s get poked out? Golf umbrellas a HUGE (albeit handy but again – gigantic!). I’m sure curious how having this handy for everyone will work if everyone uses them. Perhaps have a covered back-up location is better.

I think it’s a great favor idea!
BUT, if guests open them up during the ceremony, those seated in the middle/back will probably not be able to see you at the front. The umbrellas would have to be held up high so that they don’t block the view. Just something to consider. Good luck!

I love the idea, however it sounds very expensive!

Thanks so much for the comments!! Agreed it will be expensive, but I want an outdoor wedding badly and it may be the cost difference of booking a back up locale. The ceremony will be set up on a lawn in a circle so noone’s view should be comprimised.
