Fiance and I got engaged in May. We didn’t want a long, drawn out engagement as we really just want to get married. We almost decided to elope but then I looked at some venues and got the bug! We had some really expensive places picked out for October 31st here in NYC and then we went home to Michigan to visit family over 4th of July. We decided to look at one place while we were in town to keep our options open and fell in love with it. We’ll have a 50 person wedding – both ceremony and reception are held in this!
It’s a night wedding so christmas lights on the outside trees and candles, candles, candles!
Anyway – why is February awesome? Ummmmm let’s see – we had complete pick of
All of our first picks for vendors were available and they ALL offered discounts. SCORE! We have almost everything booked and we only started planning 2 weeks ago. Usually planning a wedding in 6-7 months is difficult (and I’m not saying it won’t get stressful at some point) but so far…so good. Picking a winter wedding was a GREAT choice for us.
Feb savvy brides, unite!

I feel you, even though mine isn’t in February. Ours is on a holiday weekend, so pretty much everyone has been available.

@ILoveMyKorat: Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan!
The glass conservatory can seat up to 60 for a reception (we have a 50 person guest list) and I think 150 for a seated ceremony. Prices aren’t bad – much better than what we were quoted in NYC. It’s about $120 per plate for us. And that’s with 4 entree choices, premium open bar and 2 late night snack options. Woo hoo! But we are having it in the dead of winter, Feb. So the discounts are big.
It’s worth looking into.

Your venue is beautiful! Also having February 2014 wedding…but I’m South African so its the heart of summer here and thus mid wedding season – thats why I’m glad started planning early (booked main vendors 12-14months in advance!) Either way Feb weddings still awesome 😉
