@Evie19:It took me about 6 weeks. It has a lot to do with the abs and core. Building the muscles for stability…. Just keep working, eventually you’ll be like “oh I remember when these killled me and I could ony do this amount…”

Exercise sucks! lol

Hey Evie- 🙂 Push-ups,,,,,I hate those, but, I have done a workout schedule that suggests you start doing push-up at a angle-like doing the push-up but against a chair, then a bit lower- against a small tabel..and eventually get to a floor push up, that way you actually exercise the right muscles but at a lower intensity untill you can progress to higher intensity push-ups. this really helped me A lot, I could feel my arms getting stronger and it is nice to travel from chair to floor and see you progress!!! You could try this.

How do you do that? I am having a hard time picturing this. Please explain! Embarassed

To OP: They do get easier. And it’s a combo of two things… losing your weight and building some core/arm muscles. <– These actually help you hold up the weight.

I remember starting on P90x a few months ago. (My goal was to lose abt 20 lbs.) And I remember I could not do even ONE push up! OMG!!!! Then about 2 mths later, I was doing GREAT! I had lost quite a bit of weight then too.

The whimpy kind on your knees is just as good.  For the rest of your body, holding the plank position does the trick.

I’m about 6 weeks to have them feeling easier too and it’s SUCH a good feeling! Keep working hard, good luck!

Try doing pushups on the stairs a few times a day too. It makes them a little easier so you can do a few more and build up the strenth to get to the real thing.

Love the stairs idea. I forgot about those! Push ups are hard but Im a baby!! Im sure you will get the hang of it so they dont suck!! You will have a killer upper body in time for the wedding. Just keep thinking that when your struggling to do them.

Jillian’s 6 week 6 pack DVD strengthens your core muscles quite a lot and has helped make pushups easier.
