In my past life as a jeweler I’ve done bands as small as 2mm. But the engraving is extremely wee.

@spotted_giraffe:  Well if it helps any my wedding band is a plain 2.5mm band and it was able to be engraved on the inside.

I have a 2mm thick plain band, & it was engraved. The letters are totally clear & easy to read.

Yay! I made the mistake of first going to mall “one hour jewelry repair” places who all said it couldn’t be done because the band was too small, so I took it to an independent jeweler in town who did it no problem. I did notice he made the letters a little longer horizontally to compensate for how small they were vertically & it worked wonderfully. Glad you’ll be able to engrave your ring. After the first 2 “No’s” I got I almost started crying. Good luck with your ring. Bet it comes out beautiful.

I also say 2mm is the limit and may even be to small for some engravers so it’s a matter of finding someone with the proper equipment

I have a ring that is somewhere between 1.5-2mm and was too small to be engaved.  More than likely 2mm is the cutoff

A ring that is 2mm should be able to be engraved no problem–the letters will be a little small, however.

My wedding band is 2mm, and it is engraved. The writing is small but you can definitely read it easily.
