@alditt14:

Pick a song that highlights the relationship you have with your uncle.

@alditt14:  My DH danced with his daughter at our wedding to Shania Twain “from this moment” because he adopted her when she was 5 and that was ‘their song’.
I opted to dance with my ‘adoptive uncle’ at the same time because I thought it worked well with our relationship, too.

Just a suggestion. I know it sounds like a love song for a couple but it completely works with family members, too!

@alditt14: “This part is like the most difficult part of the entire wedding. There’s always one line or one word that is off in songs and I just can’t use it then.

I promise, we had that problem a few times too. Especially with our first dance song as a couple. (Snow Patrol, Chasing Cars. I was super worried that people would hear the line “we don’t need anything or anyone” and feel like we were telling them to go f*** themselves, AT OUR WEDDING.) In the end, we decided that people REALLY would not read that deep into lyrics. They wont. And they didn’t.
At this point, my advice is that you are over-thinking, and to take a deep breath and step back. (But I say that from a place of complete empathy and understanding!!!)

You could also explain to your uncle that you’re struggling to find the right song because of the lyrics and see if he can offer any suggestions. Let him know that you want his help, instead of asking if he wants the task. 🙂
