I must say, i’m not a real "girly girl" but I did get a very poofy, princessy dress. Having said that, I will NOT wear heels at the wedding….I just don’t think I want to put my feet through that. That left me with two choices…ballet slippers which don’t really suit my personality, or skater shoes which I wear ALL the time. I did go out and buy a very nice pair of white Vans today that I thought would be great under my dress. But now i’m wondering if others would just find it tacky….See, to me, it would add an element of surprise to the wedding and make me feel more natural. But how would others view this? The theme of the wedding is western, but only subtly so, my fiance will be wearing cowboy boots with his tux.

Then maybe it would make sense to buy comfy Western boots? Vans do seem a little out of place with a big poofy dress, especially as they don’t match the theme or style of your reception.

Honestly, I think Vans (or even converse, or something similar) would look perfect with your dress! I’ve actually seen it done before… I can’t find any pictures, though (sorry!). I think you should do whatever is comfortable to you… and you want to show off your own personality.

I saw a really cute photo with all the GMs in red Chucks, and my niece has the most adorable pink and white Chucks that she wears with everything. I totally don’t see why you can’t wear Vans, if that’s what you want and it expresses your personal style. You know, the shoes hardly show anyway, so you might as well have something fun going on with them. That’s why so many brides wear red shoes, or blue shoes – I have gold shoes. Some girls wear flip-flops. One of the bees is wearing cowboy boots. I say go for it!

I think that Vans or flats are fine because in all actuality no one will probably even see your feet if the dress is long. And why not be confortable on that long day. It’s NOT TACKY!!!!
