If you’re open to having a reception that ends at 11, there are lots of City of Toronto heritage spaces with outdoor areas that can be rented from the city for quite cheap, otherwise, the cheapest option is to do an offseason, Sunday or Thursday night wedding to get the less expensive venue fees. We looked at dozens and dozens of places for our May wedding and pretty much anywhere in GTA is pretty expensive, especially when you realize venue price doesn’t matter, bringing in your food and tables etc is where the real expense lies.

ddwchen :  if you’re looking to keep costs low, it’s best to go slightly outside the city – I recommend Westfield Heritage Centre: http://westfieldheritage.ca/ in Rockton, Ontario, about an hour from Toronto.  There’s a ton of hotels in that area too, literally all around the venue.

There’s a couple venues on the Island. Have you checked those? I think they’re both owned by Artscape.
