so a vow renewal or a one year anniversary party.  lots of people do this, but you can’t call it a wedding if you are already married, and for a year.

We are having a handfasting, which is common in other parts of the world but is unheard of here (none of my guests knew what that was, and several googled it before I put up a blurb on our website).  I hand made the cord we will use and I’m very excited about it!

longdistancefiance :  We got married on Good Morning America last year then had a small brunch reception with our immediate family. Pretty unconventional and a ton of fun!

I think what you’re doing isn’t really uncommon. Quite a few people have a smaller ceremony/reception then have a big vow renewal party later on. I could see my husband and I doing something big for a milestone anniversary in the future.
