I have been searching a ton of photography blogs trying to find some bridal party shots outside of the norm. My wedding is really laid back, and I want the photography to mirror that. In addition to the super traditional “girls on one side, guys on the other side” bridal shots, does anyone have any examples of less traditional bridal party/just bridesmaids/just groomsmen shots? I’ve posted a few I’ve seen and liked. I’m not into anything super staged (silly faces, jumping in the air, etc). Does anyone have anything else?

We did one with the bridemaids ringing my neck and pretending to throw the bouquets at me. I can’t wait to see how it turned out. Lol Ill try to remember to post it on this thread when I get my pictures. I should get them on Tuesday!!! Yayyy 🙂

Have you not hired a photographer who can deliver the sort of shots that you’re after?

@continuumphotography: I know you’re just trying to help in threads like these, and I appreciate your posts, but the OP is just looking for ideas.

- Wedding: October 2014 - Disney
I’m doing non traditional shots with both of my girls separately.
My maid of honor wants to wear a top hat and mustache so we’re going to do some charlie chaplan esk shots.
My bridesmaid and I are running a half marathon the day before, and I’m running an additional race the month before at the west coast disney to get a 3rd medal. We’re going to do shots of us in our dresses with our running shoes and medals.
I’m trying to encourage fiance to do this with his grooms people. One of which is a woman they share a love of can cheese which I dont get but I think would be funny in photos. The second one is his brother. He is still in the Navy, and fiance is honorably discharged considering going into the reserves again. I would love to see them in their hats together.
I also want one of everyone together in assorted Mickey Mouse ears.

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
Our guys did a recreation of the Abbey Road cover that turned out great. I also like the Resevoir Dogs shot of the guys. I’m not sharing the photos out of respect for the privacy of our guys. But yeah, the pop culture references really worked for Mr. LK, who is known to have entire conversations in movie quotes and song lyrics.
As for the girls, I had just a Maid/Matron of Honor, so nothing much creative there. But if I had a big bridal party, we would have done something similar to this (but with wine bottles or SoCo, because that’s how we roll).
I also pinned this one for my friend’s wedding. I thought it was pretty. (by Jenn Hopkins Photography)

@vorpalette: Yeah, a few of the posts from @continuumphotography: recently have really turned me off… I think she needs to manage her brand as a vendor a little better here.

Thanks so much, ladies! What great ideas.
continuumphotography: The point of this thread it to get ideas, not to tell my photographer, “I want something different.” Thanks for your input.
Wonderstruck: I love your navy dresses and pink bouquets. What a great shot!
marhino: I need to check out this site!

@NAvery: I’m not really concerned with turning people on or off here. I’m not a vendor trolling these boards looking for business. There is a ton of misinformation about wedding photography, and I like to do my best to people here understand it better. My question to the OP was not rude or malicious – and telling me I need to manage my brand better here is silly. I’m not here promoting my brand, I’m giving free information that I’m an expert on.
