I went to multiple jewlers and was sized as a 6 so I tried on the size 6 bands most of which were around 2mm, nothing less than that, and they all fit me great. I then went on to order a 1.4mm band in a size 6 and it still fits me perfectly. For my fingers I think a size 5.75 would have definitely been too snug for me. I cannot speak for you but this has been my experience! 🙂

I wear a 5.5. My ering is tapered from 1.8 to 2.8 mm. I bought a 0.9 spacer ring in 5.5 and it fits perfectly. I think it only makes sense to go bigger when the ring gets wider. Not smaller when the ring gets narrower. Counting with from the standard sizing rings they use at the store.

It’s true that you can usually wear a smaller size with a thin band. However, if you are planning to wear a wedding band with your ring, you’re probably better off sticking with your true size.
