Right now it stands at:

Processional: Handel’s “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” though I may change my mind again and use an orchestral arrangment by Chris Rice of a hymn (“For the Beauty of the Earth” is the top of the list right now)

First Dance: Natalie Cole arrangment of “Orange Colored Sky” as performed by the vocalist in our band

Last Dance: Dinah Shore’s “Honeysuckle Rose” or Andrews Sisters’ “Why Talk About Love”. FH is talking to the choreographers about which they think would work best- as the latter allows for more styling but at the end of the night I’m not sure how much we will feel up to.

I’m over 30 (almost 32), but I like alot of these selections, so I want to play too!  I am getting married on an island so we are having a steel pan drum player during the ceremony – guests are being seated to Can’t Help Falling in Love, Bridesmaids walk to Wonderful World, I walk to Cannon in D, and our recessional is One Love.  We are torn b/w First Day of My Life (Brighteyes) and The Luckiest (Ben Folds) for our first dance.  We don’t have “our song” so we are just trying to pick something nice and a little different than what we’ve heard at other weddings.

I haven’t decided on ceremony music yet, but I’m a sucker for romance and, in my opinion, there is just something so timeless and romantic about traditional ceremony music. As for our first dance, we’ve chosen “In My Life” by the Beatles, however, “Oh My Love” by John Lennon was a very, very close second.

The Fiance wants to have “Fortunate Fool” by Jack Johnson as our first dance. I do want “Cyclone” by Baby Bash played for my bouquet toss (Single Ladies is sooo overdone!), but besides that, I haven’t given it much thought. It’s REALLY hard to decide on music for a beach ceremony… because I’d need a sound system, my “aisle” that I walk down is ridiculously long… sigh. Decisions, decisions.

First Dance is “Please don’t stop loving me” by Elvis Presley.  Classic and timeless.  I’m a HUGE Elvis fan!

Our ceremony music is traditional classical pieces – not complete just yet, but soon! as for the first dance, we have several contenders – You and Me by DMB, Free by Zac Brown Band, Cross my Heart by George Strait…… Leaning towards Free at the moment, while Fiance likes Cross My Heart. As for father/daughter, we’ll be dancing to Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide.

Still waiting for the pastor to get back from vacation and approve our ceremony choices. If he approves, my bridesmaids will be walking in to “Mushaboom” by Feist, because it perfectly captures our way of life now and our dreams for the future. And I’ll be walking in to “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michaelson. We’ll be piped out of the church to Scotland the Brave to honour my nana, who died when I was 11, and also because I’m proudly half-Scottish.

At the reception, the wedding party is walking in to “Bohemian Like You” by the Dandy Warhols, and my fiance (husband!) and I will be walking into the most rocking, upbeat part of “Dance Yrself Clean” by LCD Soundsystem. So excited!

Oh, so many good songs on here…our first dance will be to Daniel Bedingfield “If You’re Not The One” and our last song of the night will be Ray LaMontagne “You are the best thing” I do love the Beatles “All You Need Is Love” for a recessional (a la Love Actually) or Somewhere over the rainbow…still need to decide and for the processional I thought only of the traditional wedding march on piano but with all these other suggestions I may have to rethink it and soon 🙂  Any good ideas for the bridal party entrance?

My processional music was Canon in D and Trumpet Voluntary (church wedding) and our first dance was Lucky by Jason Mraz. I was actually really excited about walking down the aisle in a church with the organ playing, it’s the only time you ever get to do it! My friend just got married and walked down the aisle (in a catering hall) to contemporary music and it didn’t even seem like a wedding. It was almost like the bride adn groom weren’t taking it seriously, they also laughed through their entire vows. I sound like an old ornery Grandmom!
