catqueen92 : I got mine from brilliant earth and had a setting made by an amazing jeweler in Wilmington NC, Melissa Tyson. I would only recommend brilliant earth if you plan on going into the showroom- we went in DC and in Chicago and both experiences were above and beyond great, but all other customer service has been terrible. First- my husband purchased a diamond that he knew I loved because I was worried it would be purchased before our appointment the next week and they only do 3 day holds. We had the option to return the diamond at the appointment if I didn’t like it/liked something else more. They called me the day before the appointment to tell me that they had sold the diamond to some else moments before he made the purchase (???) but still charged my husbands car for the full price? We were very confused and I was quite upset as I had thought after lots of looking that I had “the one.” I went to the appointment and chose the diamond I have now that I absolutely loooooove and actually ended up saving about $1500 because I went down a color to J after seeing it in person. It then took them 1 week and 3 phone calls to send me over the paperwork for the stone we chose. Clean origin has great lab diamonds and a 100 day return policy (BE is 30) but no physical location. Their customer service is really great and honestly I wish I had bought from them just because of the experiences I had with BE.

bubbly2018 : This is really great info. And you know what, I think I read about your experience on another thread? Thanks for sharing!! I have settled on Brilliant Earth and have looked into Clean Origin as well, but I found the prices to be better on BE- Opinion on this? Either way, I will look back into CO! I have decided on a rose gold setting and a J color stone, so that is funny you mentioned that.

catqueen92 : the only thing I’ve noticed price wise is that stones graded by g-cal tend to be lower priced than others. When I questioned why I was told that it is because they are a newer lab a charge less for grading so stones end up being less. Just a couple hundred dollars less but still. Not sure on the accuracy of that but I didn’t think the J from other labs looked any different from the j graded by g-cal. The specific specs I was looking for seemed to be lower on CO but I got a great deal on the stone from BE so it ended up being within $100 of the almost same one from CO

catqueen92 : .49 ct diamond solitaire plus I have this vintage .25 center dia below. People are posting pic/referencing the (dia equiv wt) of their moissanite here. Those are usually very large so I’m not sure what useful carat information you will garner because you asked specifically about *diamond* carat sizes…. I’m currently in midwest.

I’m 26, fiancé is 28. The center stone he bought isn’t a diamond but it’s a .7c padparadscha sapphire. It’s a beautiful stone with exactly the mix of pink and peach I wanted, approx 4x6mm oval mixed brilliant, but it happened to be on a Black Friday sale when I found it, and I believe it was priced lower because it has a small internal fracture. However, I’m a witch and I’ve collected crystals and stones since I was three or four, and stones with internal fractures have always been my favorite, since that means more sparkle and rainbows!
I know you didn’t ask price, but I’m just gonna tell you it was under $200 because I love a good deal (I didn’t pay for it myself, but I would have been happy to).
