taylance :  Your ring looks very good. You should be proud that you and your fiance got the ring on your own.

In my family, it seems like everyone in their 20s purchased an expensive ring.

My brother for example, got a 2ct F VVS1 round diamond on a platinum solitaire for his wife. He tells other people that he bought it himself, but that is far from the truth. My father was actually the person that bought it for him.

My sister got a 1.8ct Princess platinum solitaire from Tiffany. The story behind that ring is that her mother-in-law bought the ring for her instead of her husband.

Similar stories for almost everyone in my family.

What did I get my wife when I was in my 20s?

A very modest ring. It is a .70ct F VS2 heart shaped center diamond with 5 vertical baguettes on each side all in white gold. This was nowhere near the dollar amount or size of what people in my family usually buy. The difference here is that I purchased this ring on my own. No help from any family members at all. I’m definitely proud of it even though almost every family member says that it is on the smaller side.

Love dainty. Your ring is gorgeous!!! It is so sweet and sophisticated at the same time.

Here is my solitaire without my wedding band. Never had the specs checked out as this was bought at a flea market, but I was told by my local jeweler that we did really good. The setting was just custom made this year to reset the center stone, went from a 3 stone setting to a solitaire.
