- Wedding: September 2012
SOOOOO with Fiance living in London and me living in Orange County, CA we are not the typical couple by any means and we only had 10 days on a visit to interview/book & get our engagement session done.
Fiance is a man’s man & doesn’t love getting his photo taken so it was important to me to find a male & female photographer team that had a really natural style in our price range and was super cool to work/hang out with so that we could be comfortable.
I did my research and found we couldn’t really do more than $3K for both epix & wedding day which is on the low side for the southern California market but I was determined to get our money’s worth and would not settle.
I spoke to a friend I know from high school that started her own wedding photography business and she was good and all but when she told me that her husband (who is a singer/musician in a band) sometimes fills in as her 2nd photographer when no one else is available, that really turned me off… like, he’s not a photographer but this couple is PAYING for two so that’s not really fair… :
ANYWAY, then we met with a studio that was in above price range but was willing to negotiate with us and we just loved them as a couple… they are both skilled photographers, (one still in a corporate job, one managing the business) and have this great balance of the guy being calm and cool and the girl being down to earth yet filled with excitement… just like Fiance and I! Needless to say, we left our meeting feeling good and like we wouldn’t find better photogs in our budget and only had 7 days to get an e-session in so we booked!
Soooo it was Friday when we met Studio 28, Saturday when we committed to them, and Sunday was the only day we had to do the shoot so we ran around all day sat getting the right outfits and scheming all the locations we could have done it…
We decided to have two outfits (one a tiny bit dressed, one more casual in sweaters) and to have our shoot on Balboa Island near our venue (a yacht in Newport Harbor) because it was close to our hearts, fun and I love the beach/harbors so it was bound to be fabulous.
The following photos are the fabulous result!
We started at the Balboa Fun Zone right on the harbor:
Then we found some cool bricks/architecture to play with:
Then we went to the boardwalk and played in the flowers…
then we went down to the shoreline…
—wardrobe change—Then we found a life guard tower…
Then we went under the Balboa pier…
Then we went above the pier…
then we went to the Balboa Fun Zone and rode the ferris wheel… (FI was SUPER done by this time… you can tell lol)
and that was that!
Our photographers told us they were going on a two week trip to Europe so our photos wouldn’t be ready for like 3 weeks so I was worried/waiting for our little babies above for what felt like an eternity but now that we have them, I could not be more thrilled!
What do you guys think?
Sorry there’s so many but we love almost all of them! hehe
