SO i picked up my dress this weekend and she’s just as beautiful as i remember. she hardly needs any alterations. It has wide straps so hiding bra straps isn’t the problem, the problem is that she has a v cut in the back that is alot lower than my bra. so my bra was very visable. I’ve found a lot of supportive bras and shapewear that have low backs but they are mostly strapless. Being a 38F who needs support i’m pretty scared to jump in the strapless pool. I’m also not very comfortable going without a bra. any suggestions? i’m a US size 18.

I’m having cups sewn into my dress, as it has straps and a low back that wouldn’t really work with a traditional bra. I don’t know if that would work for you.

myardley : If it reassures you, I am a 38D and I am thinking this will be a good solution for my own “dress dilemma”. 🙂

I am also a US size 18 and I went the corset route! I bought a strapless satin corset from David’s Bridal and it is SUPER comfortable and supportive!!

As a similarly busty girl, normal cups sewn in wouldn’t have helped me at all. I found a moulded cup bra that fit me and had the seamstress sew it into the dress. The dress had some internal hooks for support and she sewed the bra into that. It worked very well.

julies1949 : this is so awesome! so you can just add it to any bra?
countingdownthetime : I looked at david’s and didnt really see any that had a low back, but thanks for the advice. i might check in store to see how far they come down.
dollie87 : Great advice. I saw some molded bras and was wondering how their support would be. Will look into this! thanks!

myardley : I’m a 42D and I had straps on my wedding dress, but I was fitted for a strapless bra. Like you, I was kind of like, you’ve got to be kidding. But I got the one that is kind of lika bustier style and it was good! No pulling or anything. I’ve heard of people on here having a bra sewn in too.

myardley : For $10 I would order it now so you can try it out and still have time before the wedding if you are not happy with it.

myardley : my friend has a similar boobie situation , she went to a “professional lingerie shop” where the employee took her measurements and asked what her requirements were and then brought her bras to try on until she found the right one. I had gone with her because she had expected to need help finding as many options in her size as pissible, but the lady took care of everything and said that all bra brands are different in fit, she bought 2 bras from different brands that fit her the same but we’re very different sizes according to the tags. I’d recommend going to one of those stores, and if possible take your dress with you. She didn’t but she wished she had.
