I saw an oceanic themed spread in a magazine once with those exact colors! Maybe Martha Stewart??

Shells to me dont scream under the sea, but rather beach

To me, under the sea is more fish, coral, water etc.

@snoie: any kids invited? you could give them away after – some people try and take centerpieces home.

i love the idea of paper lanterns – in all different shades of blue? it would make it look like you are under water

I think star fish work well!

I agree fish can be hard to manage, and what if they die?  If you can get coral you can submerge that into a bowl of water with rocks at the bottom. Itll be like a fish bowl, but with out the fish.

Like this, but coral instead of fish?

Maybe instead of flowers use shells around the bowl?

If you didn’t already have a venue I would have suggested a local aquarium.

For centerpieces, what about those tall, cylinder glass vases with some bright coral in the bottom then filled with water? No fish, no shells. You could find the coral pieces online or just use some nice tank decor pieces if that isn’t too weird.

These are $7 online on Amazon (for fish tanks and I am sure they come in all sizes) if you bury the bottom in some nice rocks it would very nice as a submerged centerpiece
