(Closed) Under the wedding dress and wedding-night lingerie, is there a difference?

My wedding was outside in August. I was very hot and sweaty under my dress. Plus, my longline bra under the dress was not, er, sexy, but rather orthopedic looking.

I wore something that happened to be sexy and confortable for a hot day. Not that it mattered. I passed out in the limo to the hotel

I wore nude panties and a nude bra that ended up being discarded at the reception (it kept on rising up over the dress…). I did have some white panties and a sexy nightie that I was planning to change into since it was our first time but that ended up not happening because my husband was impatient haha

I plan to wear (unsexy) shapewear under the dress. I asked Fiance what he’d like to see me in that night (I’m definitely not a lingerie type girl typically) and he requested “naked.” Ha! I’m still thinking about getting something pretty to surprise him.

The first time I got married, I wore comfortable garments under my dress. By the end of the night, I was super sweaty and gross under my dress. Once back to the hotel I ended up asking a quick shower to rinse off and then put on my sexy lingerie.

I got married during the autumn but I knew the day was going to be really warm; so taking into account that I would be perspiring, I wore my normal underwear under the dress and hid my lingerie in the bathroom for when we got back to our room later that night. The only bit of bridal lingerie I wore for the entire day was my garter.

The underwear I wore under my dress was ugly – a nude strapless bra and waist-high spanx. I didn’t have anything else to change into, but honestly we were both so physically exhausted and emotionally drained after the wedding (not to mention sore! My legs were killing me after hours in heels) that we just had a bath and fell asleep! It was great!

I wore a nude strapless bra and nude panties. I bought a new pair of panties because I had this nightmare of trying to hitch them up as the elastic had gone from being in the wash too many times (you don’t have to tell me, I know I put the class into classy). We got married in winter but I was still so sweaty under my dress. On our wedding night, we got to our room, he spent forever trying to undo the knot in my corset back and then unlace it. I let the dress just fall away from me (I say fall, it slumped a little but was still upright the morning after the wedding), got a shower and got into normal pjs. We cuddled in bed, read our cards and fell asleep, we were far too tired for anything else. The day after our wedding we left the hotel where the reception had been and went to one next to the airport ready for our honeymoon early morning flight. We checked into that room, Darling Husband threw the suitcases on the floor, bolted the hotel door and took both our jeans off. He didn’t even care about me being naked. So in my experience, you’re safe leaving the lingerie for the honeymoon (and then just sneak them into the bathroom hen you need them and get changed in there).

mcmeow:  in general, don’t wear white under your dress as it can show through the fabric. Wear nude.

I got a sexy but fun and comfy pair of panties for under my dress that served BOTH purposes. Bonus: it also checked off my something blue category! No bra needed with my dress. Darling Husband loved it…

mcmeow:  under my dress I had a regular pair of comfortable underwear and no bra. It’s what worked with the dress! I saved the fancy lingerie for the honeymoon; -)

mcmeow:  Lingerie wouldn’t have worked under my very fitted dress, plus I had sewn in cups, so the only thing I was wearing under it was seamless panties. Hubby and I had a morning wedding and brunch reception, so by the time we got back to our hotel room, we passed out for a nap then went out to dinner with family later. We didn’t get busy until the next morning, and I was in my normal (but still cute) night gown. My husband likes lingerie, but it’s off in 2 seconds so I don’t really bother with it too often.
