dancemama17 :  I don’t think doc will be able to do anything either way.  It was only a bite and the meat would have had to have bacteria in it to cause any harm.  I wouldn’t stress.

Try not to stress. It’s very unlikely that any harm will come to you or your baby from it. If you are very unlucky and happen to get sick, I would speak to your doctor then just to be on the safe side though. For now, get them to redo your burger to well done and enjoy! 🙂

There’s nothing that can be done now, it’s pretty unlikely you’ll get sick but if you do make sure to call the doctor at that point. You would need to have a severe e-coli infection to put baby at risk, the main worry would just be dehydration.

No reason to call your doctor, you can’t do anything about it now.  Honestly, I wouldn’t worry at all.  It’s very unlikely you will get sick or sick enough to hurt your baby.  Even if it’s just some food poisoning, the only real risk is dehydration or loss of electrolytes.

Unless you start throwing up you should be fine don’t stress yourself out. My doctor told me the only rule to be really cautious of is the moldy cheese and cheese with rind as they do carry a risk. Everything else is more of a it’s best to avoid because food poisoning when pregnant is awful but the chances of getting food poisoning are pretty small. Just take a breath and if you start being sick then call your doctor but if not don’t worry. Beef is the least likely to give you a problem, if it were chicken it would be a different conversation!

As long as it wasn’t bloody, you will be fine. Medium burgers and above are cooked well enough that 99% of the bacteria is heated and killed. If you start throwing up, seek immediate care.

Oooh that’s scary! I am pregnant myself and would be upset/worried too.

All I can say is you’ll probably be fine. There isn’t much your doctor can do at this point. From what I gather beef is MUCH less dangerous than chicken for example.

If it makes you feel any better I freaked out at my Father-In-Law the other day because he brought me sugar free juice…and I’ve read that artificial sweetners are bad for unborn baby. I got three sips in before I thought to ask. Once I calmed down I realised three sips weren’t going to do harm.

My point is that it is totally ok to worry about this sort of stuff. It’s part of being a new Mom I guess 🙂

One bite of burger, or a full burger isn’t a big deal. You’ll be fine. I’ve been eating medium well (sometimes closer to medium) with no issues. Just don’t make it a daily thing.
